HPM HalePlus modular factory homes
#51
With the economy shifting towards "work from home" a lot of people are looking for quick, cheap solutions for things like a home office or private work space. I'm surprised there aren't more options on the market. I wonder if any portion of the purchase price would be tax deductible if it was "dedicated" to work ?

There are ... just not here.

IF say 8-10 of us were to all buy these things, and need them offloaded, I'd think the best bet is to contact a single entity professional hauler and have them unload them one after another. I can think of a couple outfits that could handle it.

911 Storage did a great job landing the 20 foot "tiny house" box in the tight space I specified. With 3 5' x3' windows and a big door on the side that can easily fit through a fridge and a big flashing sheet over it so you can leave the door cracked open during a storm! My only criticism is I'm paranoido so the windows are too big. Though most people might like it. I've seen these units double stacked at the airport since it has the forkliftable base. But with smaller windows. Cost $10,500. At some point I had to think about the art of the possible instead of the art of the deal. The more affordable expandable units can't be stacked or moved around so easily but last 100x longer than the stick "Tiny house" on HGTV. Can find out more from Guy on Oahu. Cost $5000 plus transportation.

The guy on Oahu I think you are referring to is Francis with Containers Hawaii. I'm buying a 40' high cube shipping container from him, $5000. I don't plan to make it into anything other than a secure storage.

The story I got is "my" container is coming to Hilo, full of goods for Walmart, sitting at Walmart for about a week getting unloaded, then back to the dock at which point it's mine. I'm having Conen's ship it to my lot, which I got quoted $700. My lot is way down by Naalehu, so I imagine $700 is more than your typical Puna transport.

I'm jealous. I could have used a 40 foot but can't fit it through my narrow gate so theI got my 20 foot box from Chris Thometz of Container Storage Company of Hawaii from Oahu for $5000 and he provided very good service.  And Kona Trans brought it from Kawaihae to Kona for just $200 2 years ago though look like fuel costs way up this year. Matson boxes are  very fortress like but needs ventilation.

But if you want the insulated unit with windows I would  recommend 911 Storage or Guy from Oahu

Try Kimo at Big Island Containers. He delivers on a rollback truck and can place them about anywhere.
He has new containers built and sells them as one trippers.

Please post the pricing info when you get it, terracore. I need a shed, and this looks like a decent option if the price is reasonable.
