Vaccine Rollout - State starts out with an 'F' but much improved, Big Island gets B+

My friend got a phone call and an email from HMC within minutes of each other. They are giving appointments to anyone over 70 and those who turn 70 during the month of April. He quickly got an appointment for March 13 at the tennis stadium in Hilo. His spouse who is seven months younger will have to wait, but they will probably open up to everyone over 65 in three or four weeks weeks, maybe even less according to the latest update.

M'Lady got her appointment this afternoon. She was given a choice between Pfizer and Maderna on next Thursday.
She chose Maderna.
It was so easy for her.
As long as Pfizer is available I may go ahead and signup for a Pfizer myself.
By the time I'm ready for a second series the others may be available and maybe considered.

I have registered with HMC a couple times now.  Got an email from the CDC about registering.  They had my email address from HMC I guess.  Tried to sign up with the CDC three times.  Each time the sitesaid they were sending me an authorization code.  Three times no code came in.  Sigh.....

Went online with CVS and got my vaccine appointments easy peasy.  Private sector seems to have it's ducks in a row.  Mahalo to CVS.  Their schedules looked wide open starting tomorrow.

Well today starts vaccinations for people in the 1-C category which I'm currently in. So I went to the CVS site to sign up and get vaccinated and it says "no availability" on any island except Oahu. So I then registered with the Hilo Medical center covid website to get vaccinated. They just took my information and said it's been submitted. Anyone know of any other place that's offering covid 19 vaccines that I'm not aware of?

@macuu222:

The state DOH has a phone signup listed at 808-300-1120. I also think the Bay Clinic is an outlet.

One of the folks I helped sign up was in the over 70 group and had been pre-registered with HMC (as you now are) for over a month. He got his scheduling emails mid-day of the first day he was eligible and got his first Pfizer shot at the big event on Saturday in Hilo. Another is in 1-C like you, and called me five minutes ago to say no emails yet. You will get two emails, one from HMC telling you it's your turn, and one from the CDC with a link to their website where you actually schedule the shot.

I'm not really surprised that CVS is booked solid. The state DOH said in their announcement that 1-C was opening that it is a huge group and might take a long time to vaccinate. IMO, they really didn't want to open it up just yet, but gave in to pressure from AARP who revealed that as of late last week 51% of the people in Hawaii who got the shot were under the age of 50. Even the mainstream media have been describing a "ever increasing list of 'essential' workers."

Just register online with HMC. When your number comes up you will receive an email from the CDC. After providing your information to the CDC you will be offered multiple choices to make an appointment. I chose a DOH POD at the Civic. It was drive through and I chose it because I would have to stand in line in the rain. Received my 1st shot last Thursday and have and appointment April 8 for the second. The DOH gives the Moderna vaccine.

The HMC site has moved down the street to the ARC and it is in a much better location.

I registered with CVS and never got any notification from them.

HMC online is the easiest way to sign up.

Kaiser 934-4000 is also scheduling 1-c and above for members and nonmembers. However, DH (66)needed to call and sit on hold today to get an appointment one week out as the online registration just kept him in an endless loop

My friend who had preregistered with HMC got his emails at 09:10. Within 10 minutes he had an appointment with HMC at their Arc of Hilo site for 31 March, the earliest showing in the system. Bay Clinic also had openings, but they were well into the first week of April.

I had signed up with HMC yesterday, and got my CDC e-mail this morning at 9:05. I've signed up for the drive through this Thursday. It was very easy compared to Kaiser.

Well the CDC sent me an email. I signed up. And have an appointment for tomorrow morning at the walkin tennis stadium for Johnson and Johnson one shot vaccine. Seems there is plenty of availability for that vaccine. Pzifer and Moderna both don't have availablity until early April. And doctors are saying take the first vaccine that's available. So I am.
