Laptop Repair
#21
Plugging the cord into the electrical outlet won't take the CMOS battery out of the equation. It is always used and is necessary in booting the laptop. Some CMOS batteries just plug in, some are soldered on the motherboard. The non-CMOS battery that's in a door on the bottom of the laptop can be taken out of the equation when the cord is in an electrical outlet.

for the record, is anyone here a MAC hardware wizard??????

Just another day in P A R A D I S E !!

I wouldn't say I'm a wizard, but Macs are my weapon of choice. Seven years ago or so, I was curious about the Internet. When I thought about computers, I always had this picture in my mind of the old IBM mainframes taking up an entire room. So when i asked around which computer would be easiest to learn on and maintain. 9 out 10 people told me Macs....so seven, eight years later, I know my way around Macs pretty well.

Do you have a Mac issue right now?

I suggest anyone who wants to get into computing to start with a Mac. With Macs you don't have to worry so much about spyware, worms, and general "bs". Like Apple says,"ten minutes out of the box and you're cruising the internet"!!

I'm curious if there are any Web Page builders in the Puna area? It would especially be nice if there are some web pager builders in HPP? I need a that person to be experienced in "Flash" too?

Personally, I own three Macs. I still have my first Mac. It is an iMac DV SE 400 Graphite. I also have an eMac 1.25 MHz G4, and last but not least a brand new Macbook laptop which was the middle model.

This summer I will sell the older iMac. If anyone is interested let me know. I will sell it probably for less than $400 dollars. I will delete HD of all my personal stuff but will leave software on it.

Software on iMac:

1.) photoshop 7
2.) Macromedia's MX Suite( Dreamweaver,Flash,fireworks)
3.) skype
4.) MS Office for Macs
5.) MacTheRipper

The software is well worth 3 grand alone!

Have a Puna Day

Hey Oink I finally took out the bios battery last night. Made progress. Can now bbot to setup. Ran Hard disk test. Says good. Try to load windows. as it appears when I sent the hard in for test/repair they wiped it clean.
The cd drive tries to read but dose,nt run the cd for Windows OS. I did remove the cd/dvd/drive when removing the Bios battery.
Replace it the way it was. Will keep trying.
At least it sounds like the motherboard is
ok. Thanks Oink.

Yeah, Windows XP finally loaded. Thank you Oink for your help. I was going to scrap the laptop.
Working fine so far. Time to reload all the
stuff.
