I have a Covid19 test today. Wondering if anyone knows if there is a cold or flu bug right now in Puna district, or Hilo??? Thank you for any info. I will be in quarantine until Covid19 test results no matter what responses I receive. Symptoms so far, mild cough and congestion, no fever.

I know of one other person (unvaccinated) in Puna that had those symptoms and tested negative for Covid recently. Good luck with the test results!

I had a Covid test today at 10:00 at Kaiser Permanente in Hilo. I did it because I am having, what I think are, mild cold symptoms. I feel 100% fine, but am coughing a bit. Since we spend lots of time with our eleven year old granddaughter, and she has to wait another year before getting vaccinated I felt a test was justified. She is back in school at HAAS two days a week, fully masked of course. I've had about 5-6 tests now, mostly in order to have some medical procedure done, but one time it was for cold like symptoms. All previous results were negative. Haven't got results from today's test yet. I fully expect another negative.

Island wide there have been folks affected by the wildfires & subsequent reduced air quality.
Hopefully, the air will clear up & rain will come with enough moisture to cut-back the drought conditions on island:

ETA: Guess some medical experts actually anticipated more cold/flu this summer, as a by-product of reduced exposure to cold/flu pathogens over the last year from wearing masks & social distancing & then not as much late spring/early summer...

I got my Covid19 test results back and they were negative. But, this cold I have is bad one. Please stay masked, and use hand sanitizer. I think I may not have been as diligent about protecting myself after 2nd vaccination.
