Very off topic

I just buried my dad in Arlington National Cemetary this past Thursday. There was a two month wait due to all of the burial ceremonies they do there. I was extremely impressed by the professionalism displayed by all involved military personel. A very impressive display. Although they do burials constantly they treated us, and especially my mother, with the greatest possible respect and compassion. It has to be very hard for them to not become callous from constantly dealing with burial ceremonies. If they are, they certainly conceal it well. Thank you US Army for a job well done and for showing the old warrior such honor and respect.

Sorry for the off topic, but I had to.

Well put, Robin. I'll keep your family in my prayers...nice to hear the dignity they are owed for their service is given them.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. What an honor to be buried in Arlington National Cemetary. I have been there and it is absolutely beautiful. I am gratified to learn that the military still handles these ceremonies with aplomb. I went to a military funeral in Memphis for someone who was very, very close to me. They brought honor to the entire proceedings. I will never forget the care with which they folded the flag. It was very moving and something you have to experience to appreciate. The servicemembers they choose for this duty are chosen very carefully, and have earned the honor.

Losing a parent is a difficult experience. I'm glad that you felt comfortable enough to share this here, where the topic can be whatever you wish.
