I have to admit I am getting weary of all this bickering going back and forth. Please leave off.

Communicating on a forum does not require anyone to respond to you. It does not require that one "win" a debate.

As for members that have been banned... there have been some and will likely be more in the future. Who gets banned is up to me. The most basic criteria I have involves just who is taking up too much oxygen in the room.

Lastly here, the habit of constantly quoting and requoting in threads make things very hard to read. Please keep it to a minimum.

I've long assumed that Rob can see the IP address(es) behind each post, and so he is not confused by sockpuppets -- even those with "dynamic" IPs, most wired connections have very long lease times.

It seems there are some folks that look at the language used in posts and can tap into universe to determine who is posting as a newer member, always if a point of view is given that is different than theirs they attribute that persons writings to someone who was banned from punaweb years ago. Usually the same group of names pop up.
Every single time. Its an old diversionary tactic of attacking the person.
There are hundreds of posts for examples going back nearly a decade. Its standard operating procedure on punaweb. It seems to work as a lot of newbies get run off pretty quick.

Running a board like Rob is doing here is tenacious. Almost like owning a herd of milk cows, or maybe babysitting. Takes a certain caliber of person to put up with it day after day.

Kander - it really isn't difficult to tell the difference between a newbie and a returning troll using a sock puppet account. As for the same names popping up, of course, that's the case, the same trolls come back and those that recognize the trolls point them out. This is not a diversionary tactic by those pointing out a troll, but it certainly is one from the troll, who thrives on the gullibility of others.

And I will point out that some trolls and their sock puppets have been banned very recently, not years ago. And yes, Rob has a hard job, but what makes it harder is the behavior of some posters here that haven't a clue they're responding to a troll.

Sometimes folks know things that just aren't so.  There is peace in just letting them believe whatever they need to believe.   The odds are not even remotely in your favor of changing the mind of someone who is rooting for their team or otherwise lost in the fog of their bias.  That is unless you're offering cash.  That makes it easier, real fast.  Humans!
