Current lava zone 2 insurance info, please. Looking at a HS home, this morning I’ve heard 350k max, no insurance because house is worth more than 350k, and get private insurance (which is hard to locate online). What have recent homeowners done? Any general or specific info appreciated (I searched LZ2 insurance but just came up w pre-eruption threads) Thanks!

Seems like HPIA is the only game in town right now in LZ1 and LZ2. You are correct in that $350K is the current max. You can get HPIA through a number of companies like Allstate in Hilo.

HPIA treated us right in 2018. YMMV.

They are extremely expensive now. I'm paying over $4k a year for it. The insurer I had before was like $1.5k or something.
