Green says masks will be last to go

Quote:“It’s very possible that we’ll be able to relax all restrictions, with the caveat that mask wearing would be the last thing to be dealt with because masks have been central to keeping people from spreading any virus.”

It would be nice if he bothered to look at the clinical trials...

Meanwhile the CDC quietly lowers standards for speech in early childhood development. (Dead serious)

He did.

Green says lots of things, but he has no authority to do anything about any of it.

1. Restrictions will end when the Federal money runs out, not before.
2. Most people (on Oahu, whose opinions matter) support the restrictions.
3. Safe Travels (and, to a lesser extent, Safe Access) is about tourism, not COVID management.

It is likely masks will be the last thing to go for me. They don't really bother me.

For me, itʻs less about being bothered by wearing them, than in having it be just a compulsory symbolic gesture.  People sit in restaurants talking and laughing maskless and then are told to wear a mask as they quickly enter and exit, mouths closed and in contact with others for about five seconds.  Yes, everyone wearing masks lowers the spread.  Lockdowns lower it even more.  But I donʻt think anyone wants to go back to that.
In the beginning, when we didnʻt know much about the virus,  I fully supported mask wearing but I think weʻve all learned enough to know when we are putting ourselves in a risky situation.  And everyone has a different opinion of what is "risky".  I think itʻs time to let people make their own decisions.
Certainty will be the death of us.

Not available in Hawaii.

I think the mask mandate in schools should go away after Spring Break.
Might as well go away everywhere else too.
Fat chance though.

I would bet that Safe Travels is gone before the federal money runs out in April.

lots of tourist in town today, ridiculously masked up walking in open air.. I wonder what they were told before disembarking.

Again people, masks are useless.+++ Ask ur grandma if she even cares. I bet she wanted her grandchildren breathing freely and developing social skills vis-a-vis pure interaction.

If you prefer being muzzled, good for you.
Carry on your wide berth in fear and compliance.

“Hawaii is the only U.S. state that has not announced it will drop mask mandates.”

Hey, maybe you should trying standing out by the Pahoa Traffic Circle with a sign sharing your superior knowledge with the general public.

But please stop doing it here. Consider this a warning.
Assume the best and ask questions.
