Parking recommendation for boarding cars.

Wheeeee. This has been a chuckle but does anyone know of a long term parking situation? Looking for 2 or 3 months. Fenced and gated lot please.

I don’t know how affordable a self storage place might be, but I think some of them park trailers or boats, so maybe cars too?

Is there anyone that can give you a ride to the airport? By that I mean at any time, not just when you are leaving for your flight.

I rented a car and had someone drive me to the airport to pick it up the day before. Then the next day I drove the rental car to the airport. Same thing when I returned. The nice thing about that is, you're not depending on someone to pick you up or drop you off at a certain time. Also, you have more flexibility if your flight is delayed. It's just like driving yourself except you aren't leaving your car there.

I did it to avoid parking fees for 2 weeks. I'm sure renting a car for 2 days will still be cheaper (and safer) than long term parking anywhere. Also was still cheaper than a cab since I live pretty far from the airport. Plus your car will be at your house so it will look like you are home.

$100/month. If you have collision insurance on the vehicle you could turn it off while in storage unless it's financed. Keep liability and comprehensive. Or check to see if your insurer has a "storage only" rate.

And ask them if they will start the vehicle periodically to top off the battery.

I've seen higher-end cars there stored on the top of shipping containers. I have no idea how they get them up there but doubt any thief has figured out a way to get them down.

sounds like a potential gold mine for someone who would be willing to install razor wire and chain link. Does not appear to be any long term storage on the island.

sounds like a potential gold mine

If only there were someone we could ask whether it’s a lucrative money making enterprise, who had already tried long term parking as a business?

Commercial parking lots are only allowed in V, CG, CV, MCX, ML and MG zoning.

I still think AaronM has turned into a troll but I stored a 1968 Barracuda convertible here for over a year. The salt air and sun almost killed it but there was no place that I could afford that had inside storage. It's $100.00/ month but you can walk to the airport or hitchhike or Uber or catch a bus.
It has to run, you have to give them a key so they can move it around and you have to maintain insurance.

This is the car that I had to park there.
When it came time to evacuate Vacationland all of the storage was gone or the prices were so high we couldn't afford it.
Could have rented indoor storage for $500.00 per month.

Yes. A couple of others as well quite likely.

This isn't the mainland and options are limited. Perhaps park your car at home and ask a friend to take you to the airport and back, or use a taxi/uber? Keeping a car at home makes it look occupied so that's a plus. If you work in Hilo, then park your car at your workplace and if you don't then you face the same problem everyone else does living here. Demanding people give you info about fenced and gated lots is not likely to get you anywhere.

Thereʻs a lot of stupid people in the world, they donʻt all have to be Airport Parking. And I havenʻt seen Aaron demanding anything. Heʻs just looking for a parking recommendation and his thread keeps getting hijacked.
Certainty will be the death of us.
