Aloha,
We are having (another) problem with our water pump and hoping somebody with some knowledge on the subject has a diagnosis. When it is running, it "cuts out" about every 10 seconds. By "cutting out" I mean you can hear it stop for a split second and the pressure drops. I timed it and it is pretty much every 10 seconds. Other than that the pressure is fine. Our tank is definitely not empty (thank you very much February flooding). We just changed the filters a couple weeks ago.
It is a Grundfos model with the integrated pressure tank. Before somebody says it, yes I know that is not the ideal way to go. I already plan on replacing it at some point with a model that has a much larger seperate pressure tank, but it came with the house, is maybe 2 years old and can't justify replacing it if it still works.
We previously had a problem where it died, which we found out was due to a capacitor burning out. We found out the reason for it burning out was that the filters that were in place when we moved in were way too restrictive and the pump was working way too hard to move the water through them. So anyways after much wasted time trying to find out what was wrong we figured out it was luckily just a $10 part and some new filters.
So again, if anybody is knowledgable about these pumps and knows why it is skipping/cutting out that would be much appreciated.
Mahalo.
