Burger King Pahoa
#1
7/25 I saw a large garbage container parked in front of Burger King Pahoa location. I saw people in drive-thru so they were open. I am not a fan of Burger King foods, but it would be a shame to lose a job creator in Pahoa.

A single whopper without cheese costs $10.36

For that price I can get a delicious lunch at the hot bar of Hilo's Island Naturals.  (which is ridiculously expensive price per pound food)

But one is much healthier than the other and the portion is about equal, if not bigger at the Natch.  Burger Kings anywhere on the mainland are almost half priced compared to here in Hawaii.  I understand shipping and all costs more here but someone somewhere is skimming or something because the price hike is absurd.  If they go out of business (which I don't think will happen) c'est la vie.

Not sure if there’s any connection, but the Burger King on Kilauea near the state and county office buildings is closed.

I don't care if its healthy. People work there and need the job.

Both the Pahoa and Hilo Burger King places are not closed. The Pahoa one is undergoing some renovations hence the garbage container.

Hilo Burger King places are not closed.

I drove by on Monday and saw a dumpster in the parking lot, 2 cars parked randomly, and no sign with their name.  Maybe they’re remodeling or working under an undisclosed, need to know business model?

I order about once a year from chain fast food restaurants but thought I'd just call both the Pahoa and Hilo Burger King places this evening to see if the rumors were true. The Hilo one was definitely open but the person I spoke to had no concept of what I was asking, so just told me how late they stayed open. Things were better with the Pahoa place and they told me they were renovating but the drive-through was open and, I think, you could still go inside with some areas closed off. They were also open when I called them. Perhaps the Hilo one is renovating as well?

Dead end corporate jobs barely qualify as jobs.

Instead of giving your money to the Burger King shareholders, how about you do as suggested above, and support locally owned businesses whose profits are reinvested locally?
