Speaking of termites, a friend of mine living in HPP told me today that his house is infested with ground termites. Yikes!
I didn't know they were to be found anywhere in Puna. This is very bad news for him and potentially others in area because they are more destructive than the ones we're familiar with.
Someone must have unwittingly brought them in from Hamakua.

Interesting, I was wondering if they were around Puna. They're in Hilo as well so I expect they get around to wherever they can live. The thing I was wondering about was if they could live in a place with such shallow soil before you hit rock. There are places in Puna where it's deeper, but if they're in HPP I guess that answers the question that they can live pretty much anywhere here.

This builder wants to sell this house.  $319/SF.  If you have to buy now, that's one to look at.  If you can wait though, things really do appear to be changing at a decent clip.
