It had become more and more difficult for me to read PW lately since so many threads had become so nasty and contentious...such hostility between members, at least a couple-few.

Let's hope we can all play nicer now...more haikus! More joy! :-D

Oh, Tom, it’s all in the subtle, in the nuance.. but when uncle Walter’s stumped ‘her’ I got to figuring, there's a tie between the internet and the personality. Regurgitation of data without any humanity. Anything that far back is vague.. the database gets thin, hard to construct a response when there isn’t enough there to paint a coherent story with..

And bots rule the internet, right? Look at the server logs, any online server, and there’s reams of stupid hits testing its vulnerabilities, trying to drop into an unprotected folder and burrow into.. all sorts of silly nonsense. So, how far from there to a fully engaged bot, with the entire net cataloged behind it, dropping into an online forum and taking up residence as a personality? Seems if you could run ChatGPT from a server why not from a bot connected to that server? It’s remote, it can have as much computational power as needs be, and can be given a task.. which universally seems to be disrupt.

Otherwise, I have a hard time figuring how a real, flesh ’n blood, could decide wasting so much time doing all that makes any sense at all. But hey.. PW has had a pretty constant run of folks trying.. but not with as much gusto as our most recent..

All’s to say, even if ‘she’ isn’t digital.. she sure lacked the things digital lacks. You know how it is.. empathy, for instance.. so many struggle with that one.. would a bot have any at all?
