I have to agree with Momi's opinion of Dog and Beth. It is amazing that the sort of thuggery they practice is legal in Hawaii. Apparently it is not in Mexico, and I had a good chuckle when Dog and Co. got charged and arrested. It is ironic that the guy they got out of Mexico was about the most serious offender in their history. According to a cop we know from Oahu, the guys they round up there tend to be bail jumpers on relatively minor charges and not vicious or dangerous criminals for the most part. Unsavory, yes, but not Al Capone clones.
In most states, people with Dog's criminal background can't be in that business. (I think he has a felony conviction from the mainland.) But he gets to do it here and it makes the state look kind of goofy.
And don't start me on Beth. I would have to call names, and that's not nice.
Cheers,
Jerry

I agree. There's just something wrong about apprehending convicted serial rapists that jump bail and flee the country.
More legislation, please!

The idea that you let MTV run your life or even for one second influence what you do or how you live your life in Hawaii is sad. I can't imagine living my life thinking Thomas Magnum and T.C. were going to shoot it out in a sugar cane field near my house and do low arial stunts in a chopper painted like a melting reesees cup. In adition, I couldn't imagine watching "Hawaii five-0" and being scared out of my shorts that "Mcgarret and Dano" were gonna raid the kidnappers hide out in my sub divsion, just because I saw an episode like that?
YOU NEED TO UNPLUG YOUR TV NOW !
Live YOUR life and don't worry about some sorry ass, MTV, teenage drama, no job having losers & wannabe actors. Maybe you can have a big 100 grand sweet 16 luau because they have that on MTV too? Or take a surfing lesson with Erkel & Eddie. Where they visit Hawaii and someone steals all their luggage and the dad the fat Cop is clueless? Or run around with Bobby and Greg Brady and try to find the cursed tiki idol in a spooky cave?
No disrespect but please say it was just to post and get in the habit...please.

Haoleboy, getting the rapist out of Mexico was a good idea, but Dog and friends should have considered the fact that Mexico is a sovereign nation with its own laws. Dog broke the law in Mexico, which shows that he was either ignorant or not concerned about following the law himself. No legislation needed, at least in Mexico. If Dog was so concerned with justice, he should have raised the issue with the Mexican and US authorities, especially since he obviously knew where the guy was.
I think, however that there is probably something rotten about the Mexico-US cooperative policing efforts. After all, if a goofball like Dog can find and do something about the rapist while the Mexicans were unable or unwilling to do so, somebody either was getting paid off or not doing their job. Having lived in Mexico for a year, I can believe that either scenario could easily be true. The contrite and apologetic statements now being made by Dog to the Mexican judge make a stark contrast to what we usually hear from this bunch. Things get real different when the shoe is on the other foot.
Viva Mexico!

Good analogies.... and comments. The fact of the matter is, the Brady bunch is not reality and dog's show is a sad but small reality of life in Hawai`i. Thanks for backing me up on the dog issue. It has bothered me ever since I saw the show from the beginning. So bad that, I called their office and told them that I didn't agree with the way they portray our culture. So the first time I got hung up on and the next time they put Leland's wife on the line and she came off with some dimwitt answer like "I'm Hawaiian and I don't see anything wrong with the show". How sad....I really hope Leland and the dog go to jail. That would be so great for me. Too bad Beth can't be jailed too.

Ruff ,
I actually am a fan of Dog and the "thuggery" that he uses in Hawaii , and Colorado , and California ( just to name a few states). Some would prefer , perhaps ,to allow these ice -heads and wife beaters to stay out and roam around ? Not me .
If you actually watch the show , then you would understand that they have the " in your face moments " with yelling and such , and afterwards when the CRIMINAL is in custody , they attempt to help the individual with straight talk about getting off of drugs , being there for their kids and family , a basic wake up call.
I do not know why there should be this "glossing" over of Hawaii , as if nothing negative exists. Recently , in the media , there was the big pot bust in Volcano, the home invasion robbery in Fern Forrest, the increasing DUI'S. Should the newspapers and T.V. stations not report on such because of the negative impact on Hawaii?
"Dog The Bounty Hunter" is a show about bounty hunting, and crime, drugs, wife-beaters, and thiefs. Reality is not squeaky clean. The producers certainly try to temperate it with family beach time, b'day parties, births, luaus, etc.
Most individuals realize Hawaii is'nt full of crack addicts and bail jumpers and prostitutes.
If Dog and the cops didnt do their job , it would be.

I actually think that is a bunch of crock. I mean yes, as I said it is real and there are real issues that they deal with but like my husband put it, "they are making money, making themselves look good for people like yourself on others struggles". I can see much better ways to get the word out of the crime in Hawaii like the local newspapers but to air peoples dirty laundry on TV is a Jerry Springer approach who eggs people on to fight, swear, which is exactly what Beth does. She makes me want to fight and swear with her and I'm at home just watching the news. I'm glad they are getting sued by that lady. (re: last nights news). Regardless if people are ice heads, wife beaters etc... We don't know the circumstance of which got them their so we can not and dare not lump them all up into one stereotype. That is aloha....because I have aloha for my culture and my people, I say this.

I personally can't stand Dog the bounty hunter or the rest of his dimwit thugs. Tracking down people for usually minor drug violation warrants. As I remember, I think Dog is a convicted murderer that did time in Texas, then got out,and found Jesus, funny how that works, he kills someone, gets out, finds god, and now him and his pathetic gang rampage around Hawaii terrorizing people for mostly minor infractions. And he makes lots of money doing it. In my opinion this exemplifies whats wrong with America !

Personally, if there was a extradiction fund, I would gladly donate to it to get rid of "Dog" and all his doggets.

Iknow some now and have know other bondsman / bounty hunters and have worked with them a few times. I watch the show (Dog) and enjoy it, all the while thinking to myself "what a showboating buch of asses". I know how unrealistic a lot of their stuff is. I still watch it. I've never seen that other show, but I don't watch MTV.
