I distinctly recall asking you folks to patronize this place so that when Lady Tang goes on strike I have options. Well you didn't. Now it's closing. So thanks a lot.
Sept 22nd is the last day so get in there for the last 1/2 price Margs, drinks, beers, and full appetizers every weekday afternoon from 3-5 PM for happy hour.
It's also the only place I know with a real lunch for about $10.
The Hilo store will remain open.
Rumor has it the lease was bought out by SmashBurger!?
Probably. We totally could have slowly re-branded the existing store into The Punaweb Bar and Grill and never closed the doors for a day. It already has a urinal!!!!
Thanks for the heads up. Although my last meal there was horrible I was going to give them another chance eventually. Now I know to do it sooner rather than later.
I know they said September 22 but I wouldn't wait that long if one wants one last happy hour or whatever. Their employee attrition rate is going to accelerate as they start finding work in places that aren't about to close and unemploy them. Unless they offered a good bonus for staying until the end.
It's always been pretty busy when I was there, or at least understaffed, so I'm surprised to hear they're throwing in the sombrero.

Just ate there an hour ago. Food was very good and very reasonably priced. But they had just hired new people and the bartender messed up our drinks. They had to throw it out and remake them. Wasn't very impressed. Although they do have the only appropriate sized Grande margarita glass (38 oz) on the entire island.

Only difference is that it's now $11.00 But I wouldn't bother with Pahoa location. It's already been decided it's closing in 3 weeks. Everyone working there is on their way out. I did find out the reason they're closing though. They can't afford the $5.00 per square foot rental space.
