I referred you to John R.? I don't remember that, but at that time, you perhaps had expressed an interest in properties more toward the Kona side, because I do refer a number of people interested in that area to Mr. Rabi.

I"m sorry Mr. Dirgo, My Bad. You are correct. It was Mr. Rabi that referred me to you on a past post. (Realtor or Buyers Agent?) Well hell, You both are Johns and Realtor on top of that. I got confused.... Smile
I just started reading the Puna web recently and have been enjoying it.
Punagirl, that was a good one, but no it was really me complimenting Mr. Rabi on his web page. So far I think John R. is a cool guy, but what the hell do I know, I just started on the Punaweb and from what I read so far, he's OK with me. Don't go proving me wrong now John. R. Behave yourself!

I think John Rabi looks and writes like he is Simon Cowell and is a hypocrit too. Just from his posts on Puna web. The other people had a good point. Who else, has a signature with their business on it on punaweb. I have no problem with it but I think that is really funny. Sorry, I'm just concerned about him and what he tells people about Hawaii.

Momi, if you really wonder what I tell people about Hawaii than go to my web site and read my essay there. While I never really particularly cared about what other people are saying about me, ("Aristoteles"Wink, I sincerely hope this forum will not become another putzville where people attack each other without even knowing the other.

I concur that attacking/denigrating others is not in the spirit of Aloha. Healthy disagreement is the lifeblood of change, and the ability and willingness to consider other opinions is the essence of civilized intercourse.

BTW, if you have spent any time reading these Forums, you will undoubtedly know that John Rabi is NOT the only poster to add his business info to the bottom of the post.

Well Momi, if I am answering a question with regards to something involved in the construction industry I usually put my signature on it.... If I feel that I am offering another 2 cents.. then I dont. I want people to know that if I am referrign someone that I may be doing business with them elsewhere. Like when I used to work at Argus and made suggestions.

I suppose one can't blame real estate people to want to keep people in the, "prices are rising mood", because that is when lookers are going to buy quickly, instead of waiting for the prices to go down further. I may have the same philosopy if I was in the business, but since I am not I take their constant statements that R/E prices is are not falling, with a grain of salt. With that said, they are usually, nice friendly people.

For the record regarding "advertising" or "self-promotion" on the Punaweb...

Punaweb is intended as both a social and economic benefit for Puna. Self-promotion or "advertising" is free and allowed for PUNA residents. I prefer to provide free listings in the Punaweb business sections as an outlet for advertising. I do encourage local folks to find and support each other's need to make a living by providing goods or services to each other.

So it is all right to disclose one's profession or business as long as the business is Puna based and is not done in a manner to denigrate or inhibit someone else's enterprise. I would suggest it is not all right to continually inject one's business interests into every conversation and topic line. But if you are an electrician or a realtor it is fine to identify yourself as such. Each individual can define themselves - and untimately do.

There are always situations which fall on the line or some shade of gray. When those situations occur I prefer to err on the side of inclusion.

It is also okay to disagree or not endorse some theory or effort. Do keep a civil attitude on how you might do this. I much prefer grownups to be self moderating in this regard. I only play hall monitor when I feel forced to do so.

Here, Here, I agree Mr. Tucker. Well said. I Nominate you as the Offical Hall Monitor. Smile
John, Don't you Realtors make money whether the prices go up or down. I thought realtors make their money either way? But What the heck do I know, I'm just a hard working Bus driver.
