Just a note, the people on this forum should understand a few things about Puna. There is a huge mixture of all varities of people here. Your ability to mix well once you get here is how you deal with diversity in everyones thinking. Like Dog the Bounty Hunter, you can choose to read it or not but if you would look deep into some posts, you might catch a glimpse of a beautiful community of Natives (yes natives) and non natives who see importance in helping the community and keeping our culture (which is a mixture of all cultures). On another note, the last time I checked there is a huge Sovereignty movement here and Natives who believe the Hawaiian Kingdom is alive and well we don't need to be recognized by anyone but ourselves. There are huge concerns by many about people who move here, bringing their views, cars, bulldozing, changing the fragile ecosystem, bulldozing endangered species, to fulfill their ammenity needs and usually for some reason... they don't really do well here. After all the land taxes are raised because they built million dollar houses next to Locals properties. These people move away and the locals (of all races) can no longer afford to pay the taxes. If you can't take people's views... I worry for you when you move here. In Polynesia we think community, not of ourselves.

I feel your pain.
Don't let the few get you down. Peoople come and go from this forum. There will always be some negative people in a group.
We had one that was so negative he had to be legally retrained from using this forum.
I did not live here at the time and he began to email me, using scare tactics telling me not to move here. Having not listened to his poison, moving here was the best thing I've ever done. So let things take there shape.
You will find that the negative people will not exist here long.

Now we can tell all the people who will like living in Hawai`i because they see it for what it is and accepted it.
The negative people who are unconcious of life here will not like it here at all. You can make the choice to live in a glass bubble house, and not deal with the diversity and that is ok too I guess or you can learn to live with the diversity in any which way or form.

I think I read the topic for this forum on the homepage "got something to say?" Well apparently, it is not true. Just the fact that you want to control what is said and make like Hawaii is a bed of plumerias and all will do well here is a contradiction to that statement and stereotyping if you are you calling everyone plumerias. So there are no problems in Puna. A great forum truly appreciates all opinions. A onesided forum will create narrow mindedness and sadly mislead the new comers to Puna.
The Maku`u Open Market is organized every Sunday by the people from Hawaiians Homes Association by wonderful Hawaiian people. It is the heart of Puna and very diverse in it's contents and people. It is a good example of diversity in community.

my intention was not to draw attention to you. This guy really used scare tactics. And some very unkind words.
But I must say, the way things are will not always be the way they stay. We all evolve. Physically,emotionally, and spiritually. How we deal with it is up to us. I hope you know that those that stay on this forum learn tolerance. In return they gain friendship,support, and knowledge.
Let me say that I see the gift you have to offer. I'm sure that you will teach us many good things.
