Where can I find that movie? Is it a comedy?

lol - yeah, while PT Anderson's gift for lighting and and framing scenes tend to be glorious on the big screen (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood, even Licorice Pizza and Punch Drunk Love), some of those front of the bumper car chase shots could induce a bit of motion sickness, even on just the small screen. However, it seemed like he was really trying to capture the flow of the book in which some sentences run across a whole page or more and bounce between the past, present, and maybe hallucinatory or mythological time frames (it is something else). Anderson pares a lot of that down and just states directly near the beginning of the film what everyone is in store for (quoting from the Weather Underground in 1969) - "From here on in, it's one battle after another."

Speaking of PT Anderson, Joaquin Phoenix and Boogie Nights, from my book of totally useless trivia(l) information, originally PT wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to play the part of Dirk Diggler. DiCaprio had to turn the role down due to his commitment with the movie Titanic at the time.

The second actor PT went after was Phoenix, who also turned down the role due to his feelings that a movie about porn would hurt his image. DiCaprio recommended to PT to get Mark Wahlberg, which of course he did with Wahlberg recently saying that he now regrets taking the role due to his faith and what he would tell his children.

GREENLAND - sue

Thanks for the recommendation Sue! We want to watch it bad but it's $20 just to rent it!  Did you find a less expensive way to watch it?

ETA:  Possible never mind - I'm talking about Greenland 2 - is that what you meant?

Ok, I see an in..

I ain't got any in the way of movies to recommend.. all I've seen of late are disappointing. It's hard.. methinks.. to pull off a great one in the format. No matter what it's too short a time to really develop the characters and such and wham bam and all of a sudden you're at the closing credits..

But since our fiend opened the door with his passing glance..

One of the best series.. I cringe at the term tv.. it's so out dated.. but hey..

Try Sense8

By my measure it's one of the best.. packs it in and developed a real cohesiveness.. a real bond between characters, a real examination of cultures.. norms and taboos.. and has a cool sci-fi bent..

Of course by the end of the series it gets a wee bit long in the tooth.. but oh what a ride. And the second time around is even better.
If you see ICE, call 911.

I give MM's suggestion of Sense8 a positive upvote for sure.

Speaking of "TV shows" and especially during today's turbulent times, if you never watched it, or even if you have watched it, but for a good bit of escapism, as well as dreams of how things COULD be, I highly recommend watching (or re-watching) Kiefer Sutherland's Designated Survivor. Also stars Hawaii's own Maggie Q!

On Netflix

Good to know there's a Greenland 2.  Greenland 1 is on HBO MAX.

Fans of Bill Maher will love "Pizza Man".  Available on Amazon Prime for $1.99 and worth at least $15.23.  It's a low budget film noir classic with an amazing story line and great laughs. Set in 1991 Los Angeles with a young Maher in his prime. There is a dance scene where Maher puts Travolta to shame. "Pizza Man" was released just one year before Bill Maher started Kid Love Productions.
