Even better, Barney wants to drive me over to your place and then the three of us go visit your Iranian friends in Leilani Estates. I am sure they would love to meet Barney and have some bacon as well.

They are vegetarians but totally cool with whatever you're into.  I'm so sorry it's so hard for you to imagine having friends. There are actually quite a few Iranians here and they are STOKED today.  Try to actually know one.  You will see.  =)

I am shocked that being the outgoing friend of these totally STOKED Iranians, of which, by the way, neither you have yourself, or indicated your Iranian friends have expressed any sympathy for the 3 already killed, and 5 severely injured Americans that we already know of, but nonetheless, why not show your dear Iranian friends the benefits of PunaWeb?

I'd especially love to see them join and then add their thoughts to the now seemingly endless debate of "God" on all these threads.

Tang - Winter is coming...

I was wondering about this too - snow coming to lower elevations of Mauna Loa? (break out the boogie boards and sleds!) An appearance of White Walkers? (sharpen up those obsidian daggers, or were they basalt?) Nuclear Winter? (Oil up the wheels on your grocery wagon liberated from Malamas and hit The Road.)

Hopefully Tang can help explain when y'all meet up for the protest today in Hilo so everyone knows what to plan for.

From Punatang - What part of "move on" is beyond your comprehension? If that were me it would be "click delete".

I'd strive harder to follow your model behavior on Punaweb and shoot for the top of the leaderboard in Deleted Posts (see above, or above this, or this, etc, etc), but you're so far ahead and I don't want Mod2 to end up gauging out their eyes if they have to deal with anyone else as accomplished as you are in this arena.

So wear that crown proudly for now - Punaweb's Champion of the Most Posts with the Least Said! (Don't rest on your laurels though, other Punaweb rabble are hard at work figuring out new posts to get deleted to so best beat them to the punch and do the deleting yourself! I'd protest on Sunday about the insanity of it all, but can't seem to find the related thread...)

The same way you invented old people that you help out?

Change Persia to Hawaii - but of course the famed paralegal should know that.
Honolulu but article from 10 days ago. plenty of others to post about as well.

https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/02/21...ce-hockey/

I am sure it is totally plausible for one to apparently have numerous friends/acquaintances of Persian/Iranian descent out of the 1,105 total in the entire State of Hawaii, but an over 30 year resident having several friends, mostly elderly and of Native Hawaiian ancestry that we help in a 2 square mile area in Hawaiian Acres is just too impossible of a reality to believe?

And then, how would anybody, of reasonable sound mind, while paying attention, be it a paralegal, attorney, scientist or even a dim witted 3rd grader think the OP was talking about anything other than an alleged Persian/Iranian professional athlete who is on the Big Island?

ETA: Upon further thought, it is even more plausible to believe Tang is getting opinions from a 12 year old hockey player.

Personally I wouldn't have removed your video as some people just need a big beautiful slap in the face from reality, but I may have missed later edits or changes that prompted the feedback.

Given how you stated your point, you clearly had something you wanted to say. For my part, I've been working through your links and chewing on the ideas in them. Lots of interesting info, but not sure how to weave them into the existing tracks, and I feel I've spent more than my fair share of time doing solos, duos, and dueling riffs so wouldn't mind sitting down and strumming along in the background for a bit while someone else steps up and takes the spotlight.

What is there to circle back on? I answered your question about my prior statement of "How would all of humanity be inherently discriminatory?"

In that answer I provided several links to sources that substantiate my statement and then in a relative short paragraph that brings the discussion back to Hawaii and a personal experience, "waxed nostalgically" about the number of times my husband and I flew from Hawaii on board a jet piloted by at least one female, and on more times than one would think, two females.

Of course, the Dude finds that impossible to believe, well, because he is the Dude. A WOMAN pilot???? No effing way!

So I replied to the Dude about the "black chick" United Airlines Captain that my husband and I have personally been on several flights she herself was the Captain of and posted 2 short 1 minute long videos about her. That also apparently turns into posting reams of "black chicks" flying.

Now, as to further supplement my claim, as well as my response to you as to "How would all of humanity be inherently discriminatory?" I submit the following two responses. Can you pick out the performatively spritzed discriminatory words? Maybe see a dash of bigotry? A pinch of intolerance? And a whole lot of exaggeration used?

Doubtful. The longer flights on the big planes are awarded based upon seniority (ask the union on that) and since women pilots were not that numerous they would not have had the flight hours needed to bump their way to those flights. I will ask my friend, captain mark who is now flying semi-retired for American and who flew trip7's for years from DFW to HNL, KOA, OGG and LIH his thoughts. He currently flies 787's twice a month from DFW to various South American cities on contract, for $820 an hour. Nice gig if you can get it!

Seems to me reams of waxing nostalgically about black chicks flying planes is a hard stretch. In fact, going on about flying to and fro ain't really got anything to do with Puna, Hawaii either, does it? Though start a thread of its own and see if it flies.. in fact maybe try that whenever the itch strikes. It certainly would make it easier for those that don't use the blocking function to navigate..

As for this particular thread it just seemed like oil and water..

Let me try to put things how I see them - not claiming them as the Truth, just some thoughts and observations.

I responded to your prompt about inherent discrimination because given the wording you were clearly prepared to make a strong argument, which I like as they tend to be well supported and reasoned and gives lots to learn from. Also, I had largely reached the end of my riffs with TomK and wanted to sit back and strum along to what some other posters might be laying down.

I saw your post with the links and thought cool, some deep readings to do. I started in on them in chunks, while listening to that new Gorillaz album, and mentally chewed on their ideas while working and wasn't paying too much attention to the follow ups.

I figured you were going to move from humans have inherent discrimination (which seems like lots of good info to support that) to tying it to the thread's theme about God. There have been lots of ideas shared and time spent building up a dialog about gods and science and how can we say what we know. So while you tied your points to Hawaii while dealing with some headwinds from those unlikely to take the Harvard Implicit Association tests, you still didn't/haven't tied it back to the theme of the thread. Could it be done, maybe, but that path and landing runway is not clear to me.

I really am trying to adopt the possible interpretation of Punaweb as a positive space for collaborative exchange much like a large diverse band. For that to work everyone has to acknowledge and appreciate what each bring to the themes, claim some time to solo, but also fill some background tracks, and be willing to have back and forths without resorting to stomping feet.

Is it possible? Only if we believe it to be and make the effort find a way to work together - otherwise lots of discordant and hamajang outcomes seem likely.

In as much as you raise very valid points, let me put things into the way as how I see it as well.

In the original discussion as part of the whole God/Religion discussion, someone posted that religion was inherently discriminatory. I furthered that discussion as to my stance that humanity in and of itself is inherently discriminatory.

Then you asked me "How would all of humanity be inherently discriminatory?" to which I answered and provided links and in further continuation of the entire discussion, discussed the inherent discriminatory stance some take about what one could term "a woman doing a man's job" with the whole female pilot thing. Bringing up my first hand witnessing of some actually getting of the plane solely due to 2 women "behind the wheel."

At any event, I see the error of my ways. I mean, I clearly offended some by trying to expand the whole God/Religion discussion once it was brought up that religion is discriminatory. Clearly, I committed an act so unreasonable, so outrageous that it makes some Right Wing Radical, who, one could say, resembles the drunk "Unko" screaming at a dead Ohia tree pale in comparison.

I shall, in the future, try to do better!
