Loved it. Check out "The Martian" by the same author, which inspired me to grow potatoes. :-D

PBS is showing a four part series “Once Upon A Time In Space.” Part two “The Russian Thing” is particularly good. The Mir Space Station is built and in orbit, the USSR is disintegrating, and NASA sends the shuttle with NASA astronauts on cooperative missions.
There’s an accident, the station is saved by the heroics and combined background and knowledge of individual crew members. This is the story from those on board, clarifying initial public news reports from the Russian space agency.

Episode three has a brief Hawaii connection:

An oldie but a goodie worth a rewatch, John Carpenter's
In the Mouth of Madness. What happens when a story is told that can break the minds of its readers, and maybe even reality itself?
It has a fun but lessor known role for the late-great Sam Neill and some dated effects from the same team as Carpenter's
The Thing, but a message that seems more timely than ever.

Anyone looking to hole up through the storm with some binge-watching may enjoy "For All Mankind". It's an alternate history where Russia lands the first man on the moon, and the space race never slows down.

"For All Mankind"
Great show.
I just finished the Star City by the same series creator. For All Mankind is the American view, Star City the Russian side. Both on Apple TV.

So
The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist that was discussed here previously has hit streaming, and I'd say it's pretty good overview of the issue, from AI doomers to techno-optimists, misaligned incentives, the similarities to the Nuclear Arms race and related possible frameworks for regulation, all couched in the creative director's attempts to understand where it's all heading and how it impacts those he loves.
Worth the hour-and-a-half IMO, although parts may have you yelling at the screen over some of what is said (including proclamations by the doomers, the optimists, and the AI CEOs who sit down for an interview) and you may want a smoke by the end of it (which apparently is all good now as
AI will fix those negative impacts as well? ;)
ETA:lol - looks like I'm
not the only one catching up on the latest pop-culture AI coverage.

Will second
The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist doc.
Worth the watch.
I'd also say the other one mentioned on another thread with Bill Gates is worth the watch, sans any grossly inappropriate and insensitive physical disability comments about the guest speaker.
