Could you tell me what are the steps we need to take before calling the Building inspector. The sheer wall and bolts are all in for the post and pier house but the concrete was not poured. Are we suppose to get termite treatment before calling the inspector or after the concrete is poured in?
Thanks

Termite treatment before pouring the concrete and calling the inspector. Then the inspector, then pour the concrete.

Thanks for the information. I will need to call the inspector tomorrow to cancel the inspection because someone told me to treat it after the concrete was poured since it was post and pier. I know punaweb has more expertise regarding these matters.

As I understand, no treatment is required with P&P ? Hotcatz, pelase correct me if I am wrong. Wanted to confirm that with Bldg but got busy signal - you might try them before you pay for termite treatment at 961-8331

They don't require site treatment for our Castleblock homes.... but we don't use wood.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Do you think it would be better for the house if I did have it treated before pouring the concrete? Is it possible for me to go to the store and treat it myself or should it be professionally done.

I would think that you need a license to apply the chemicals. I don't know what chemicals are used now. I remember before a lot of pesticides were restricted, to treat for ground termites, my dad mixed up a 50 gal. drum of a chlordane solution and poured it along the foundation with a coffee can, sometimes crawling on his hands and knees! He lived to 91 years, healthy to the end, but I would never have guessed that he didn't poison himself.

We built post and pier and the only thing we had to have termited was under the slab for the garage/carport. The termite company gave me a paper receipt that we showed the building inspector and that was all that was needed. Hope that helps a little. Pak
