The person who replies to email queries must have quit, too! This company clearly has fans here, but you can't do business with a company that won't talk to you! I've given up on getting their packaged home info sent to me.
HPM, Castleblock, TrojanLumber, Multifacetted Homes, and the rest seem very eager to meet with and talk to prospective clients. The Argus people don't seem to want my business.

I am interested in the Hale 12 manufactured by the Multifacetted Homes Company. Has anyone dealt with this company before? What were your feelings about the entire process from start to finish. Mahalo for your response. Jeff

We'd also be interested in your experiences. Michael, the owner, gave us a tour of their model home. To say that we were impressed would be an understatement.

We are finishing up our kit house from Big Island Package Homes. It's a beautiful house, and very well-designed. However, I can't recommend the company - had some issues. Contractors kept telling me the kit was priced high for what it included. I requested a cut list so I could compare costs, having paid a (non-refundable) $7,500 deposit. They refused to give me a cut list until I paid the balance on the kit. So I refused the kit, walked away with my blueprints, and my builder came up with a cut list, which saved us substantial bucks. (We had to eat the deposit.)It's a beautiful house, tho - maybe you can just buy the plans from them.

What an unfortunate experience, Colleen. I suspect you suppressed a lot of colorful verbs and adjectives in this posting. I took a look at the Big Island Package Home web site and looked over their listings for what comes with the kits and what doesn't. This is just a crude comparison as I have no experience beyond what I see on these web pages, but it looks like the quality and quantity of what you get with a BIPH kit is easily comparable to the HPM kit, and the prices are about the same as well. Given some (crude) comparability, the most important part of the deal breaker would be the ease of working with the company.
With this comparability, would the BIPH refusal to give you a cut list be reasonable if they have proprietary prices from their suppliers?

We would like to weigh in as extremely satisfied buyers of Castleblock products and services. Pete and I discovered Castleblock's webside while trying to decide between a Honsador package or Multi-faceted. The MF homes are beautiful (visited one in Hana on Maui), but costly. To us, the Protec and Galvamet products made excellent sense from a longevity perspective, so chose that.
Rob is an exceptionally good person to work with. He's generous with his time and knowledge, and absolutely honest and straightforward. When there's a problem, he will deal honestly with it. You can't go wrong with this...
Pete and I built the home, contracted out the foundation/slab, electrical and plumbing. We found local folks to help us put up the structure, and have taken it from there ourselves. The material cost was probably comparative to stick built, but the speed of using the SIP's for exterior walls and roof was incredible. We built small (1000 sq ft.), and it took about a month and a half, with the crew working 3-4 days/week, 4 hours per day.

Thanks for sharing your views of CastleBlock. I had the chance to chat by phone with Rob, who was very generous with his advice and time. We're still figuring out the construction process, but are leaning strongly toward CastleBlock. The idea of having a home that termites won't want to munch on, and that could stand up to the most extreme weather, is also appealing.
Can you share some pictures of your new home, Jane?

Does anyone have any experience with Bamboo Living Homes by Bamboo Technologies? Me and my husband are trying to find a builder and just love the style of these homes. Of course, the price is really up there too.
Also, has anyone had any experience with VHP Builders, Inc.?
