Pressure tank for catchment system
#1
Hello,

I would want to know what other local stores carry these pressure tanks? Home Depot carries three different sizes, but they only have the 120gal in stock.

That is too big.

Thanks,

Stan

Hawaii Catchment in Shipman Park has them, as does Waterworks in Hilo.

look in the phone book for water catchment there are tons. HD only caries the metal ones, you may want to spend a bit more on the fiber glass ones. You may want to consider a big one. Means less pump run.... Plus if the power goes out you got a reserve. Just remember that it's only half so, if you did buy the 120Gal you really only get about 50-60Gal of water depending on what pressure is set at.

Good place to look is water works and the one in shipman bigisle catchments. Also, HPP has two.. Paradise pools and something else. Check em all out.

The trade off with a larger pressure tank, I'm told, is that the lower pressure end of the cycle will be more noticeable, i.e., the lower pressure will last longer. But there's more time between pump cycles, so you save on electricity.

Stan, it is to your advantage to take the 120 gal tank if it's in your budget!?

If that is an issue you just adjust the switch. Instead of 40/60 change it to 45/60 or even 50/70 if you trust your pipe joints.

Thanks for the replies guys and gals.

The 120gal at Home Depot is a big one! Not sure if I could fit that into my garage.

Beachboy,
having read both your threads relating to your gutters and catchment, I wonder if your problems are related. I think you might want to get someone trustworthy out to look at your whole system. If I understood your leak in your other thread correctly, I wonder why there was enough pressure to cause a squirting leak, and wonder if that is related to water in the gutters.

I may have to ditch the cheapy Grundfos pump that came with the house, and go with the Home Depot Flotec.

I have my eye on the 1hp Flotec at Home Depot, and I may just get that 120gal one from there too.
