Wow, what a GREAT weekend we had. Camping was fun, the manta's were abundant and the food kept us all happy Smile.

Special thanks to each who participated because everyone brought something special to the trip:

Scott (and Jane) for some great nosh... yum!
Andrew... set up great night boat trip!
Hazen... native fruit smoothies, firestarter, adventurer Smile
Connie... for her unbelievable spirit of adventure, and the most wonderful pineapple from her very own garden!
Gary... the new guy.... just blended right in cheerfullySmile
Bob... was the picture of patience... my truck had brake problems and he sat at Midas while the rest of us headed out on the boat... he cooked breakfasts for everyone and spoiled me (as usual)l.

Also, special note of thanks from me personally to Scott, Andrew and Hazen for providing extreme entertainment on their lilikoi gathering adventure....

Oh, I just had so much fun!
Mahalo and Aloha,
Pam

Just another day in P A R A D I S E !!

The only one Pam left out was herself. Without the land to camp on we wouldn’t have been able to stay in Kona over night. Her cousin has 5 acres above Kailua and it was an ideal place to gather. Thanks…..

If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it cost when it’s free...now here come the taxes.....

Andrew, is it a Spotfin Squirrelfish (Neoniphon sammara)? (the spot would be on the dorsal, which is lowered, and where most of the comp stuff on this site is, but the rest of the picture is close... ) Check out:

Thanks Carey:

From the link you provided my best guess is a Sammara squirrelfish. The pic in your link looks very close to me.

Coming Sunday?

Aloha,
Andrew

Andrew, I think you look much better than the picture in the link....
No, I am not going to dive with ya'all, as I am packing now for my environmental science field study course... (our first stop is Hawaiian Beaches... hey HB guys, What are you doing there that we can study??? or do I not want to know???)
Jim is (I think) planning on showing up, so keep him fed, & wet, for me.

Perfect: High tide for Sunday August 5 is at 10:17 AM. Yeehaw!

If anybody is interested in meeting new friends, sharing a BBQ potluck, playing at one of Hilo's great waterside parks (whether SCUBA trained or not): Come on out and meet the gang!!

I will be bringing my underwater camera along on this one and if anybody is interested in sharing ideas and know-how about underwater photography this Sunday would be a great time to come out.....

We meet at Richardson's Beach Park in Hilo. Driving Directions can be found here:
http://www.divehilo.com/announcements.html

Come on and get out from in front of that TV or computer screen and come on out. These are always fun events.

Sunday August 5 at 10AM - Come on out and get wet!!!!

Hope to see you there.

Alohas,
Andrew
