Is there such an animal?
How much more do they cost than a regular slider?
I'd like to install 2 sets and when I look at doors at Home Depot my eyes glaze over.
I was told that it's hard to find French doors that open to the outside ... which is what I need; I don't have the interior space. They would open "under roof" so rain is not an issue.
Any ideas on how to acquire these without breaking the bank would be much appreciated.

I just finished installing a Masonite french door from Home Depot. A double inswing. Fiberglass. I'm very satisfied with the quality. The door was about four hundred as I recall, another eighty bucks for leverset and deadbolt. I was surprised to find a guy there who really does know his stuff, Bruce Tucker 920-8400 ext 322. He can special order if they don't carry just what you need.

I've been looking for the same thing. Milgard show them on their website; no pricing, but they are available at Honsador and HPM in Hilo.

Kathy, If you want prehung, in a fairly recent Lowes or HD ad, they mention outswing door available as an order (their order add a some to the cost & time frame, but not a lot). If you are looking to frame up the door yourself, you just need to get outswing hinge hardware (pins cannot be popped off) and leverset.
I have seem a couple prehung outswing doors on the HD discount racks over the years. We were able to get a couple of really nice FeatherRiver Fiberglass patios with custom glazing at HD (they are inswing)
Seems this order was shipped to Hilo by mistake...and they were very reasonable - close to what Brad paid.... So if you are not in a rush & frequent the home stores, you may get a fanatastic deal.... otherwise, ask at the millworks desk, it probably is only a little more than the inswing price

You can pay less but I've got to tell you in all honesty, fiberglass is head and shoulders above wood in this environment. Imagine installing your new door and getting it perfect, then having it swell and stick and jam - yuk. And from three feet away, you can't tell.
I had no luck with HPM on this purchase. The guy took down all my info, but I could tell he was not interested. I told Debbie on the way out the front door that we'd never hear from him - we didn't. It's all about the person you deal with and not the employer.

According to the Milgard website, those shown are outswing doors.

We have french doors - 8 sets - 5 inswing, 3 outswing
Masonite brand as I recall. They are a steel door/wood frame. All from HD. Outswings were special order and about $700 each I think, but definitely more than the inswings.
I also got a bid from HPM (they were cheaper and included delivery on my Milgard windows), but their door prices were way higher. I gave up waiting for my Honsador quote.
For 2 sets, if you know a decent handyman/carpenter, it might be a better deal to take Carey's advice and have them custom hung onsite.
BTW, I really dislike the "brass" hardware on the stationary door compared to the previous plastic hardware - not as smooth operating

The guy with the house for sale around the corner ($879K) used these doors

He told me even with shipping it was cheaper than HD's mid range doors.
