Aloe is really slow growing but once it is grown into a hedge folks wouldn't want to mess with it.

A side benefit is if the midnight shoppers got cut up getting through aloe, they could use it to treat their wounds!

i've heard that bouganvillia are easy to propogate so once they start getting lanky you can cut them down and make some new starts....anyone tried to propogate some stem cuttings from their bougies?

Noel, bougies are very easy to propagate. Best luck we have had is to use non-flowering branches. Have used the stick it in the ground method with good results. We also yanked the monster one we had right up against the fence (NOTE: bougainvillia should never be planted right up against ANYTHING....they grow & grow &....we were pruning that buggah every couple of weeks & it still needed more trimming until hubby stapped) was poopped out of the ground, just a bit of tap root on the stump & we decided to pop it back into a much roomier area. It is back after, flowers are starting....less than a month ago it was a bare tap & stump nub....
