It's been known for sometime that tree nuts and peanuts contain "good fats" that protect the heart. Researchers have been studying the effects of specific nuts in the last couple of years on heart health. The macadamia nut has not received much attention, unfortunately.
Good news. New studies show that the macadamia nut is also heart-healthy. Here is a link to a recent study (one of several that have come out in the past year or so).

A 2003 study showed that macadamias may increase HDL, the good cholesterol.

MAC NUTS!
I socred about two thousand pounds of mac nuts, husked but still in the shell. I have them in my truck and trailer right now and I NEED to clean those out. COME GET THEM if you want any... they are for share. Located in Glenwood, between mile markers 19 and 20 on Highway 11.
They are last season's pick, so about 25% will be spoiled when you shell them; the other 75% will be excellent.
Can provide information on storage, packaging, etc... but the bottom line is they are great to munch, you can crack them with vice grips and enjoy. Come get a bag full.. a 5 gallon bucket full... a 30 gallon bucket full! Ye Haaa

Can you ship to the mainland? :-)
How do you crack them to get to the goodies? I have heard that you need professional processing equipment to open them. Was I mislead?

Heard fro, a fellow named Glen on the mainland; he is coming over next week and getting some. I have NO IDEA about shipping; I can ask at the post office.
These have been husked, You just need to shell them. There are special tools for that but frankly, we use vice grips. We just sit around the fireplace and talk story, or watch a movie and crack away. Everyone munches some and some make it to the keep bucket. It's fun!
