"Army seeks public comment on Stryker Brigade"
"The U.S. Army is seeking public comment on its proposal to base a Stryker Brigade Combat Team permanently in Hawaii, Alaska or Colorado in meetings scheduled for later this month."
"The first meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Aunty Sally Kaleohano's Luau Hale at 799 Piilani St. in Hilo.... meeting will last from 5:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m."
"This EIS was prepared in response to a ruling by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which held that the Army had not complied with federal law in determining to base the Stryker Brigade in Hawaii because it did not take a serious look at other possible locations."

Well, its time all you looney punatics get out and say what a bad deal it is here to have the army on the big island. Im sure Puna will be well represented. Bring your pot and whatever. Show you are a true American and tell them what you think.

Be respectful, look respectful. We want to be heard in the meeting as respectable people with a real concern. Hawaii is a special place, a gem, that needs to be protected. There are better places for the army to train than on this island.

let me guess, you support the war in Iraq and the "Dirt Farmer" from Crawford Texas?
The military has been trying to pull the old "Oakey Doke" once again on the good people of Hawaii, and you're okay with that? How many years did we endure the BS with Kaho'olawe from the military, now this?

War is serious business! It's not just that we SPEND trillions to protect the profits of the oil and arms Industry, but someone is MAKING trillions doing so.
Health care, environment, education??? Not so profitable in the short run I'm afraid. I would hope that Hawaii could develop an economy for the LONG run.

listen, we are gonna be in Iraq for not 8 or 10 years. Think in the lines of Korea! We will be there 30 years or more! We don't go from the biggest surplus ever to the biggest defecit ever without someone paying a price!
The big winners, and the only winers of this war...defense contractors!!!!
In thmid 70's Hawaii was starting to have a good economy locally,...then GREEN HARVEST appeared!

that's what real Americans do is stand up,dude! I doubt Cheney is gonna give you a courtesy "reach around", even if you are the first one to drop your draws and grab your ankles!
We don't need to Strykers at all! Nor do we need a Fascist mentality here in Hawaii. We have enough problems as it is!

Just popping this up to the top as a reminder that, if you're at all interested in this particular aspect of Hawai'i's future, tonight's the night:
Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Aunty Sally Kaleohano's Luau Hale at 799 Piilani St. in Hilo...
...meeting will last from 5:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
