My top five indulgences in puna.....

1) Trying a new dish at nings
2) eating fresh coconuts from the tree
3) Hanging out at the warm ponds during a full moon for chanting/music night.
4) Two orders of fried bananas with ice cream at Ludi's Restorant
5) Snorkeling kapoho midweek in the morning when hardley anyone's there.
okay one more 6) meeting more punaweb friends face to face for the first time.

2) Uncle Roberts luau (although I almost never get to go)
3) Cheeseburgers at Verna's
4) Punaweb parties and get-togethers

1 snorkeling anytime, anyplace on a whim
2 wandering through the rain forest finding new "stuff"
3 watching wild pigs, sheep, owls and other life
4 seeing the glow and glimmer of pu-u o'o
5 taking a deep breath and remembering to share paradise with a loved one..

1. Hiking to Haena and having the cove to ourselves.

2. Hiking out toward Pahoa on the old railroad right of way and seeing the open country and distant mountains.

3. Snorkeling Kapoho on a sunny day.

4. Hiking to the summit of Mauna Ulu. (This might just barely be in Puna, or a little outside.)

5. Working in my gardens and sharing produce and plants with our friends.

Hmmm. I guess y'all get the idea we like to hike. Items numbers 6,7, and 8 would have also been walks or hikes. LOL.

1) Watching Peles rivers of Fire enter the sea during sunrise.
2) Relaxing on ocean cliffs just about anywhere along the coast. Including a great little fishing shack located right off the water below Seaview Estates.
3) Sweet & Sour Spicy chicken at Lemongrass in Keaau
4) Fishing and catching my favorite OnoFish outside Po'hoiki.
5) Smoke meat & Garlic Shrimp from KOA & Family down at Po'hoiki.

1.Driving along Red Road and being speechless in it's beauty.
2. Hanging and taking in the love in Kehena Beach
3. Going every Sunday to Makuu Market
4. Sneaking in to take a swim in Champagne Ponds.
5. Fishing at sundown in Hilo bay.
6. Reminding myself how lucky I am.

1) Free buttery avocados from our neighbors whenever we want 'em;
2) Snorkeling in waters filled with tropical fishes anytime we want;
3) Falling to sleep with the sound of the rain pounding on our metal roof;
4) Driving the Hamakua Coastline and gazing at the reflections of clouds on the blue water (while eating a bavarian cream malasada from TEX drive-in);
5) The taste of ripe White Pineapples and Mangos in my smooties; and
6) Having the honor of watching a full breach of a whale off Kahakai at the ocean.

1) Snorkeling at the tide pools when ever the mood strikes...even during "work" hours!

2) Eating the buttery avocados from our own tree and sharing them with everyone. My wife acutally pureed over 20lbs and there it sits in our freezer for the seasons when we won't have any.

3) Fresh tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers from our garden.

4) Papaya salad at Maku'u Market. Spicey and no white sugar please!

5) Sharing our paradise with all our wonderful neighbors!
