Aunty Minnie Kaawaloa
#1
A sad day today as our Aunty Minnie has passed away at 91 years old. She will forever be remembered as a beloved kupuna, wife, mother, aunty, cousin, grandmother, sister, friend, and pillar of our community. Aunty Minnie exuded the essence of aloha in her daily life. What a woman!

Mahalo ke Akua for gifting us with Aunty Minnie. To her ohana, we mahalo you for sharing her with so many. The stories abound at this time. Please share with each other just one thing she may have taught you, if you were so fortunate to be in her presence.

For those who did not meet her, the Google link shows basics of her life (too many articles to list individual links, e kala mai):

We will miss Aunty Minnie, but can carry on her teachings, in remembering what the true meaning of "aloha kekahi i kekahi" is.

Moe me ka maluhia lani, Aunty.

Aloha e, Aloha e, Aloha e...

I was very sad to read this. I only met Auntie Minnie once, but she was so kind to our family. When my daughter's body was found in the ocean, the Kaawaloa estates was used as a staging area for police and rescue personnel. When we came to the island after Brittany's death she allowed us to park on her property and walk accross the lava. She offered up her condolences, offered us water and fruit. She was truly a beautiful woman.
My heartfelt love and condolences to the ohana, a few of whom I have met.
Peace and Love! Julie Royal

Aunty Minnie was laid to rest. They say hundreds came to pay respect. Those of us with teary eyes did not count the people. Her ohana is the epitome of dignity, and shared her with all of us for many, many years.

Hui hou, Aunty. Mahalo for the encouragement in keeping our spirit. It is indeed within all of us.

Aloha wau i'a oe, travel safely. Hui hou. Aloha Oe.

Imagine her company she now keeps. May we all strive to reach the peak of our destiny. In Hawai'i, should you choose to embrace this time called "life", may we all make our respective kupuna proud.

ETA: Our Aunty Emma DeFries, (Please Google, she is Kahunanui) among others, is there....waiting. Aunty Emma wrote this song, and I feel the need to share the mana within. Listen carefully to the message. Kala mai (Excuse, please) for the depth.
