Sunday Oct 7 @10AM - BEACH PARTY - Come Join Us
#1
Hi Punaweb, Punatics, Punawanabees, and the odd Hilotics thrown in for good measure:

It's that time of the month again. WooHoo.

Come on now I know that there are a lot of you folks that say to yourself each month: "Self - I really got to go down and check these guys out some time."

This Sunday is your chance! It's just like a Punaweb party except it is at the beach and you get to take a swim or a snorkel as well as meet all the interesting people and eat great food.

We meet on the first Sunday of the month at Richardson's Beach in Hilo at 10:00AM. You and your family or just you are very welcome. We generally bring food to share with the group. There is usually a BBQ if you want to BBQ anything. We usually do at least one dive and some people do 2 dives. You have to supply your own equipment and you must be certified to dive. You can rent tanks at Nautilus in Hilo on the preceding Saturday.

All people are welcome to attend and just do the BBQ and/or any other water sports such as snorkeling, body boarding, swimming, kayaking etc (in other words non-divers are welcome too).

Hope to see you Sunday Oct 7th.

Aloha,
Andrew

Scuba Sunday... wooo hoooo....

I took this crazy "test" online that tells you your "true age" instead of your chronological age. Granted, I am sure the wanted to sell me something or other... but none the less, just wanted to let you all know that although I was born in 1954, my "true age" is 77. Ha! No wonder I am having trouble diving. Actually I have NO trouble diving, it's getting into and out of the water that is killing me.

Seriously, I hope to see plenty of Punatics at the beach on Sunday. We all deserve a fun day.

Hey isn't there already a Punaweb Dive/Scuba site? Haven't seen it posted lately, but I saw some beautiful pictures taken at them by Andrew, Scott, Pam, etc... Too many sites get confusing, but I do like the new one you guys made and all the photos are great.

Carrie, I agree... let's not confuse the posting sites for photos. I love the postings you guys do for the diving parties- no need to duplicate. Ed agrees and suggests a link could be put on the Yahoo site to Andrew's website.

Andrew, what is involved these days to get certified? Am I correct to assume DiveHilo offers diving certification classes?

To get certified you will need to sign up with a certified instructor and take both the classroom as well as the get in the water part of the training. Read a book take the test and VOILA you're certified.

At the moment our club is not set up to train and certify divers. Nautilus Dive Center in Hilo is one place locally where you could go.
