Next to Home Depot?

Why has it taken almost a year of construction just on the foundation of the new Panda express next to Home Depot? Something seems fishy there?

And, after all of this work...only a Panda Express...yuck. I was really hoping for an Applebee's or a T.G.I.Fridays or a Red Lobster....if it has to be a "chain." Maybe even give me a good Denny's for those gotta have grease moments. Doesn't a Panda Express belong in a food court in a mall?????

After exhaustive research it was found that Hilo is lacking in Asian fast food.(Duh)

Doing a little investigative work here. I looked at the 2006 DHHL annual report.
Panda Express signed a 65 year lease with
DHHL starting in 2005. The lease rent is 180,000 a year.

They haven't received their building permit yet. And the other store is a Burger King but they haven't signed their contract either.
