Okay, so I want to practice guitar (I need to, I'm horrible) with someone in Puna who has a guitar. We both have computers. Can anyone recommend a camera/,ike set up that would enable simulataneous communication so we can practice together (oh, I am SUCH a Puna Wannabee).
Also wondering if anyone off-island has been insane enough to set up a webcam on their property, just to stare at it from time to time, while waiting to come over.

Glen,
I don't have too much experience with this but my niece who lives in Israel uses MSN Live Messenger with her brother here in California. All they do is plug in the webcams and and a headset and they are all set. They claim it is that easy. Of course you need high speed Internet as well. Again, I have not done this myself but they make it sound like it is very easy to do using MSN.
Just in case you wanted to know they both had their first babies only a month apart. So they share baby moments real time.

Thanks, Dave. It is awesome how the internet has allowed families (and communities) to stay in touch. I will give Live Messenger a try.

You can do the same thing on Yahoo. You need Yahoo Messenger and a webcam and mic.
Pretty easy but response time does depend on your internet connection. Good luck
