Many Locals go to Las Vegas and are mistaken for being Mexican -- that upsets them very much.

Mexican is a nationality description. Hispanic is an cultural description (of Spain). Caucasoid is a racial description. Like Americans, Mexicans come in different races. From my experience, Mexicans are usually White (Caucasian), Indian(Native American), or mixed, but most all will be Hispanic. Americans are more diverse but with racially less Indian influence and more more African (Negroid) and White (British mostly). Cubans and Puerto Ricans will be Hispanic culturally but primarily Black and White racially, although many Puerto Ricans do claim a strong native Indian link. A pale Swede and a olive Italian are the same race as are a pale Swiss and a Spaniard. Of course many in science now say there is no such thing as different races.

I think like many Americans who are descendants of several cultures, Mexicans that I have known have many cultures in their backgrounds as well. I mean Spain for instance - the Mexicans I know feel no love for Spain since they feel they were raped and pillaged by them. I have friends who will quickly correct someone referring to them as Spanish, although they speak a version of Spanish, they will say they are MEXICAN. I believe Germany had a go at Mexico as well, among several other countries.
Too much analysis here gives me a headache. In plain terms my point is that there's always someone calling another culture "lesser" for one reason or another. I don't think that will ever change - but I do like the fact that it's not okay anymore to refer to anyone in casual terms that are demeaning. That "N" word is horrid. Even for African Americans to use casually - it's not okay.

From studying Mexicans in school, they are mainly meztisas-mixed. The bloodlines are Spain-white Europeans and Indians-native peoples of North America. There is also some intermixing of African blood here and there also due to how African slaves have been dragged all over the world to tend to crops, etc.
Now, after saying all of this-who cares? We are all human beings. Does it really matter what color our skin is? It shouldn't. Do you think cats go around looking down their noses at those with darker fur? I doubt it. This is a uniquely human issue.
We are lucky to have the rainbow of shades of human-or wouldn't it be boring?
Enjoy each other. Love each other.
I firmly believe if everyone treated each other the way we would want to be treated by others-this world would be a lot more pleasant to live in.
Oh, and to those religious people as well-just because someone is a different faith-or has no faith at all doesn't mean you are any better and they are any worse either. Stop "saving" people and trying to convert people. Let people live. Let people be.
Live aloha.

Imagine how that judge feels now, with this guy famous across the globe, for taking him up on the suggestion!
Many prestigious people have the same idea about "people that they consider lower-than-themselves" - may be blacks, natives, Wal-Marters, or hillbillies. This is only powerful against employees, not those in power. Odd, isn't it - that a banker, CEO, or monopoly managers can discriminate freely against women or poor whites/browns as they use statistics to hide their personal prejudices. Any women work for the Railroads? (Answer: no, the men - both high and low, agreed not to give them a chance)
I agree with your comments except that I used to be a railroader (freight as well as passenger) and other traditionally male jobs (steel mill, oil refinery). We got these jobs because we fought for them!
I generally ignore HiloHaole's remarks as they tend to promote racism. (Locals don't like Blacks - what an ignorant thing to say).

Hmm, ignorant why? Because it was an untrue statement? Because it was politically incorrect to make the statement, although true? Because he was slamming blacks? Because he was slamming locals because they're prejudiced against blacks? Because it was an acerbic observation that may or may not be true that was an answer to the posed question but you deem inflamatory?
I'm not agreeing with his statement. I don't know if it is true or not. When I lived in Hawaii 30+ years ago I didn't observe enough blacks interacting with locals to make that judgement, even if I wanted. The only two blacks I can remember back then were living among us hippies.

If Hilohaole's remarks aren't racist, they certainly are bigoted. Anyone who lumps a diverse group of people into one characteristic lacks credibility. "Locals don't like blacks", "blacks are lazy", "Jews are greedy", etc.
People are different. Even people of one race.

Oh boy, I guess I could count on a Dog Chapman topic veering off into unhappy territory.
