OK, the consensus is pretty obvious: a request for people to be a little nicer is considered "whining" and unreasonable. Now that you've made yourselves clear, I'll just step away from Punaweb until some of you "humorists" get flushed out by the passage of time, and a group of people who don't view a request to try to be nice as a personal insult become the norm in this community again.

I've noticed that there is an almost complete changeover in posters about every 2 years (coincidentally the average length of stay of someone who moves here from the mainland) so I just have to be patient. It's kind of like when I lived in a college town and my favorite mellow blue collar bar got taken over by rowdy frat boys. Within 2 years they all flunked out or graduated and we got our bar back. Although not until Gertie the waitress had to dump a pitcher of Strohs over the head of one ***hole for outrageous rudeness. We gave her a standing ovation and then tossed the whole table out on their ears.

Well Carol, I will invite you to stay. You can't convince everyone of anything. For my part I will be maintaining minimum standards. My advice to most everyone is to not respond to provocations.... it just encourages more.

My favorite bumper sticker for everyone is still:

It would be a shame to leave this forum...it really is a great spot to be. For the most part we get along very well. Sometimes there are heated, passionate threads that I just don't wanna go to (of course, being a big fan of Under Dog...well, I tend to stick up for the little guy [another reference to the bleeding heart thing and again DO NOT EMAIL ME] that seems to be taking a beating at the time.

We all have taken our bumps on the head...there've been times that some of the "Founding Fathers" as it were, didn't show for a while and we missed them 'cause they got insulted. I for one enjoy the banter...sometimes I wanna throw an O'Douls at Haoleboy (yeah, that would be my drink of choice - am I "outted?"Wink but he always has a better, more smartass comeback so I gave up.

My favorite Bugs Bunny cartoon was when he was wrestling with this big scary dude and his response to the BSD's anger was to give him a big, wet, sloppy kiss!!! Haoleboy loves BWSK...hope you stay Carol.

The original post was someone whose opinion they felt was important to make. Agree or disagree with it is not the issue. Odds are if left alone, it would ultimately morph into something else, but the message would always be there.

Post two, although ill timed, was nothing to get upset or offended by. It neither called anyone names, said someone was stupid, or challenged anyone to a duel. Again, agree with it or disagree, it took nothing away from the original post. If left on its own, it would just be quick read, on to the next.

Post three was the very thing post one was talking about. It attacked, challenged, and specifically targeted a person. It’s only conceivable purpose was to enrage and inflame under the guise of righteousness. Had it not been posted, the topic would have remained on it’s course and the message of post one would still be the predominant item.

A cat is walking down the street. A boy walking the other way starts singing to the cat "How much is that doggy in the window?" A person stops their car, pulls out an AK-47 and commences to spray the boy with bullets, blowing away the cat, neighbors, mailman, school crossing guard, and the oak tree. He says he’s the god guy because he stopped the boy from being inhumane to the cat. He asks you support him.
Am I really hearing that some of you think the boy was wrong and deserved what he got?

Oye Vay...is that like the "If a train leaves Chicago at 5:32 a.m. and another train leaves New York at...?" scenario...I hate math.

I may be presumtious, but I'm getting the impression that this latest puna web brew haa haa may invove myself.

Rob runs a good forum, maybe the best on the Island. Whatever he does on HIS forum is fine by me.

The old guy who (I presume) threatened me with legal action (on his 2nd post) is laughable. Someone needs to draw him a picture of the definition of libel and defamation. Nevertheless, I was taught to respect my elders and am content to let my un-funny thread die. Blame it on that cheap Costco merlot.

Why doesn't anyone besides Glen want to have a beer and tater salad with me (not that there's anything wrong with that)?
Cigars optional, so is the beer for you boozers.

Me - I can not think straight when I hear "I want blah blah blah whine whine whine, okay?". Think of me like a dog's brain rather than a cat.

Tell me where the cow ate the cabbage. Tell me to KAFLA but as a request, do not whine about that which matters little. It somehow filters right out of my brain.

To anyone who might take this personally, Don't. It is my opinion and not directed at anyone as an insult or personally.

Bob

ha ha - cow ate the cabbage? Do you think that is PC? What if the cow didnt ask first? What if the cow lived in HA and didnt want anyone to know he ate cabbage? (Intended joke for those who have lived in HA long time and know the "CIA/bond type" old timers!)

In another thread that was pro-superferry, I was told by Rob that superferry opponents had a right to also post on that thread. I understood from your post that you were expressing your opinion to the thread.

Redneck maybe! Frat boy - never **Hrmphh**

Ha ha! As always SB, you crack me up!
