are you here on the rock?

Carey & Carrie are on the rock (& sometimes do things together, all because of this forum!)(sorry I answered, but one of us may have turned in early & the other was out on the town...) One of us is on the edge (of Puna) & the other is smack dab in the middle of things (in Puna).
(also some thread topics get high reading because many search engine searches can get you into the forum threads - have found this on some research searches I have done, if punaweb has a thread on the topic, I can end up back here....) Edited by - carey on 11/09/2007 22:17:54

Thanks for pointing it out, punapetah...I wasn't keeping track, but yes - I had surgery a couple months back-- had part of my kidney removed...very painful, long recovery. We also care for my disabled Mom who lives with us. Just started a little web store to sell some things I make. I am home alot. How about you?
I AM on the "rock"...live in Hawaiian Shores and consider several of these punawebbers friends. They'd give you the shirt off their backs. We all have the islands and love of them in common and are mostly originally from the mainland, although many new friends for me are locals and have been equally friendly. In referring to Sardonyx - do you mean the actual gemstone? Or were you referring to a sardonic nature or response (mocking)? I have neither of either! Hey, why don't you tell us a little about yourself? Are you on the island and where are you from? What type of work or non-work, hobbies, etc. are you into? How about joining us at our next Punaweb Party function. They are always a joy. I mentioned in the thread that when I started it, I was surprised it would continue this long.
I think that you are generalizing and forgetting about the other 23.5 hours of everyone's days. Perhaps it is spent doing wonderful things and if you spend a few of those moments of a day enjoying a less serious topic, you are altogether a less than good person? I think you meant well, but it didn't quite come out that way.

oh sorry julie I wasn't clear. What little I've actually seen of the greezse toad is enough to realize he's really is who he shows himself to be and not worth 15 minutes of my "waste time".
Not to mention 1500 x 15 minutes. Spending that much time on a neighborhood watch would be better time spent, rather than thinkin the "dawg"'s gonna save the day.

So where do you live, Punapetah? What's your thing you like to do besides cyberspace? Why did you ask me about a gemstone?

Looking for a good sardonyx specimen, my stud Dane/Mastiff it's his name. I used to be a goldsmith, leathersmith, calligrapher, ceramicist, performer, woodwright, architectural preservationist and restorationist, selfsustaining DIY, Master of Many trades jack of none, If you're gonna do it, do it right.
Now for some "cabin fever" reason I started again getting involved with community stuff as a dozen new people have moved in to as many new houses on my block, in the past 4 years. So I'm kinda sick of the influx, the speculators, real estate agents and rip-off contractors, the crackhead robbers and the do nothing about it police department. Try to get the neighborhood Watch going again get nothin but BS from politicians who promise funds and then nothing. Try to get the county to clean up where they need to and they're so lazy they ask you to do their work for them, (I could show you the letter I just got from the Solid and Hazardous Waste Branch of the Dept. of Health. In Oahu, they don't have anyone on this island! You wonder why people dump everywhere? No enforcement. What do I do? Get distracted with this crap around me that I'm not going to do much to change and not work on the 2 dozen projects I'm in the middle of around here. Smack dab in the middle of HPP in the 800 year old flow in a kee-puka that was left when the last flow went around it 400 years ago. So it's a sacred space. For the past 8 years I've been fighting with EVERY agency in town that is responsible for the illegal dumping and grubbing and robbing and domestic violence, road rage violenve, etc. etc. Feeling like it's getting to be a lost cause. And it's all going to get worse as the population grows. Because not everyone wants to keep Puna rural. Some are here to exploit, rape, profit, lie, cheat and steal. or a (speculator, D-9 operator, "contractor/builder", "real"estate agent, banks/mortage company, crackhead burglar. in that order. Other than that not much. Trying to enlighten those duller spaces that seem to be growing everywhere. Trying to assess how much longer until critical mass and when I'll have to migrate again, further, and further aawaaaaayyyyyy. Damn! Kinda hopin this was it. Done a lot of work here don't know if i could do it again. how's that?
