Pahoa Holiday Parade - Dec. 8th
#1
This year's Pahoa Holiday Parade is going to be the BEST ever and we are going to have more fun then humans have previously been allowed to have.

With the parade theme of "There's No Business Like Show Business", the parade will step out on Pahoa's main street at 10:00am on Saturday,December 8th, led by the Hawaii County Band and Grand Marshal Salvador Luquin, along with more than forty parade units celebrating the holidays and vying for cash prizes.

The parades Grand Prize entry will receive $200 for first place, $100 for second place and two Youth Entry prizes will be awarded at $100 each.

For the third year in a row we will have as Parade MC the dynamic personality of the award winning disc jockey DC Carlson from B97 who will kick off the day's events in front of Luquin's Mexican Restaurant with an early bird pre-show from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., featuring special guest performances by Pastor Ernie Cruz and Friends, Classical guitarist Lee Eisenstein, and more with prizes donated by CD Wizard and other local businesses.

The Pahoa Holiday Parade is sponsored by the Mainstreet-Pahoa Association and parade entries or volunteers are welcome by calling Shawn at Puna Styles (808) 965-7592 or Madie at Puna Buy-n-sell (808) 965-7296.

Don't be surprised if this topic keeps appearing in the forum. I am on the parade committee and want to keep this notice above the horizon.

Parade donations and help are always appreciated. The parade costs us about $4,000 to put on and the cash doesn't just appear from nowhere. I was especially pleased with our Youth Entry winners last year - Pahoa Elementary 6th Grade. They were very happy to win a prize. We have two Youth Prizes this year!

My sincere thanks to those individuals and businesses who support our Holiday Parade thid year and in the past. They will be mentioned and highlighted at the parade and in the press.

Hey Rob - what about next year a tree trimming contest kinda like the trash fashion show in Hilo? The only requirement is you cant not use a "typical" shipped from mainland Christmas tree. Oh boy, I see this having all sorts of possibilities

1) The tire tree from Paul's
2) The sculpted hummus tree from Island Naturals
3) The broken surfboard tree
4) The recycled paper tree made out of real estate flyers
5) the Skateboard tree
6) recycled welded metal from Hooligal ideas???
