Yeah, I guess you can call me a tree hugger. But... It makes me sick when Oahu goes out to someones neighborhood and cuts down the biggest nor folk pine they can find on the island so they can display the dieing tree downtown someplace decorated in lights. Yeah, and if they came to my house we got a few really nice choice tree's in waianae I'd love to tell them where they can stick it...

Yes our nor folk pines were past Xmas tress's Now way to too tall to decorate... You can buy a small 3-4' nor folk (LIVE) tree for about 15-30 bucks then after your done (xmas) is over you can take it out and plant it!

And I know this (JUST) isn't a hawaiian thing it always disgusted me when they would take a 80' + tree pine out of the national forest so everyone could gather around and watch it die... It amazes me how stupid people are and every little cow poke town has to have their best tree on display every year... year after year... Sad really....

Back to the ironwood.. ha ha ... we trimmed it so that the 80 year old peach tree that had been languishing would do better. The man that built the house in 1926 planted the peach, and the iron woods had grown wild around it. (Mitzi help me out here)... the ironwoods choke out everythign below them. We thought we were doign a good thing.

iron woods you have to go out and weed wack with a chain saw every year. But I've made some good wreaths with tham because they bend easy without snapping. And every one of those you cut down, your helping.
If we can only get people to like albizias, and they'll come cut those down?
