...and do you consider yourself one? I thought I left a post yesterday with a similar question, but perhaps I just dreaming I did it? I was extremely tired last night. Because I have no notice(email) from Rob telling me your thread has been removed.
So does anybody wanna take a stab at it? What is a Punatic?[

In the old days it was less than a compliment. It was an insult referring to poor people that lived in Puna, and had an added element of "dirt bagger".You get the idea. Now,recently, it is used by some people as a"proud" description of where they live,or want to live.Funny how things work, lol. And of course Punatic rhymes with lunatic,so you draw your own conclusions.Irony abounds, just like a lot of wealthy high nosed people live in Kailua, which means toilet water.Again, communication will forever remain an artful dance.

Now, now I wouldn't go that far.I don't care for dreads, but that doesn't mean all people with dreads are bad.As far as piercings well, alot of cultures have them for specific reasons, not just for the hell of it.But often in modern society,if people are different from ourselves, then human nature tends to cast their eye down at them.Sorry, but this is from the Christian teachings. And I am not going into a long explanation, but before that ,cultures were very tolerant of each other, and less judgmental. And I am sure that plenty of people who have dreads, piercinggs, and live in alternative housing by choice, also pay their taxes. So,let us not continue the stereotyping.
By the way in my culture,if you pursue the highest rank, you are required 33 piercings throughout a 25 year period. Each for a special reason.Spiritual piercings are also practiced in Africa and India. So,just because youth today goes out to pierce without anything more than"its cool",doesn't mean it doesn't have a deeper more antiquitious history;that may have been forgotten, obscured or just unknown. So,it shouldn't be looked down upon because of ignorance.By the way I have 33,plus piercings, and I own 6 acres and pay my taxes.
So,the word Punatic is a word that is controversial to this day. So,yes Punatic has negative conotations. And there is nothing wrong with living off the grid,or any other alternative[according to who?] lifestyles.Okay I will get off my soap box.I just wanted to clarify a few things.Like how wrong it is to sterotype people because of a belief,a look, lifestyle,or where they live.Perhaps we should consider not using the word?

I have had piercings "not in the usual places" but I've also been a corporate lawyer. I read Punaweb almost every day, but I guess that does not make me a Punatic, only a wanna be.
I live on Java, does that mean everything I write is in Java script?

ahhhh, you got one of those "Prince George",were you get your 'Meat Whistle' split down the middle? I know how weird southeast-asians are about that stuff. I mean weird in a good way though. Pearls tend the be the weapon of choice in Thailand and PI. When I was living in southeast -asia my friends asked me if I wanted a few pearls mysel. Of course I politely declined[:0]

I always thought "punatic" was an attitude.

I have lived here all my life and never heard the definition refer to an attitude. The previous definitions given are always what I have heard.

It means you're an enigma.
