TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT
Creating Community-Police Problem Solving Teams
February 4-5, 2008
Pahoa Community Center
(Off Pahoa Village Road near the Fire Station)

Sponsored in part by the Hawaii Police Department & Pahoa Weed and Seed Program

Target Audience: Attendees should consist of public safety, other government organizations, and community members & organizations, who represent a good cross-section of your community. Members of the Pahoa business community are encouraged to attend.

Course Description: This two-day course will provide public safety, other government organizations and community members & organizations with an opportunity to work together as a team to identify and work on specific problems in their communities. This course incorporates community policing principles, facilitating change, team building, creating partnership, problem solving strategies and action planning.

Pre-Registration is required. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants should attend with a team of individuals from their community. Registration information is attached.

Cost: There is no cost for this training or course material.

Accommodations: Participants are responsible for their own transportation and lodging.

Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

The legislature this year has HB 1182 in place to seek money for a new PUNA police station.

....The new facility would also have to be in compliance with the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act. The total cost of the facility, including planning, design, and construction costs, is estimated at $6,500,000....

Good golly, I am sure Rob could come up with some quite oppulent and still come in WAY under that budget and still have hundreds of thousands to spend in cars and equipment, etc. I always cringe when it comes time for the government to build something.
