What to Pack?
#11
when we moved, I mailed over some light quilts, 3 towels, 13 boxes of books I needed, family photos, some CD's, and cloth diapers. we carried over two changes of clothes each and one toy for each of my keiki, my cameras, and my french press.
I was sorry I didn't bring tools, crystals, and my van.
I never had a problem with my books getting musty, but that's because I was VERY careful to keep them dry. I had to put paper in between my photos to keep them from sticking together. I was really glad I brought my french press! it's so nice to have fresh coffee when you live off-grid.
Things like pots and pans are easy to replace, but appliances are expensive. I missed my blender. Clothes are easy- you really just need some pareos and slippahs.
I was glad I didn't bring electronics. I got a tv and stereo from the pawn shop in Pahoa for cheap and the roaches and geckos made themselves at home in them.
don't bring anything leather- it gets stiff and molds really easy.
