BIAN Spring Plant Sale
#1
Hey Punawebers,

The annual BIAN spring plant sale is scheduled for February 29 and March 1 -- Friday 5pm - 9pm and Saturday, 9am - 2pm. As usual, it will be at the Edith Kanakaole Stadium.

The sale now accepts Credit Cards, as well as cash and checks. This is THE GREATEST sale for plant-a-holics, so hope you come out and find that special plant (or 10) for your Puna gardens. The sale is run by the Big Island Association of Nurserymen, and part of the proceeds go to support a scholarship fund for UH agriculture students.

Does anybody know of any plant sales during the period from March 9 to March 19? (Maybe we should start planning our trips around scheduled plant sales....)

Look on the web for Kona Outdoor Circle. I understand their sale is the middle of March. Then, the Waimea Outdoor Circle is the last weekend in March. Busy month for sales!

Yeah, the sales are some of the best ways to get interesting new plants. Some plants aren't available anywhere else except from the sales.

I can't wait! Last year I got some very unique plants, some old favorites - and TERRIFIC prices! Take the time to check it out - you'll be glad you did. : )

Gotta get there early, though, since a lot of the really unique ones sell out quickly. It seems there is always a demand for the really fancy hibiscus. I'm starting to see a lot of folks "collect" them and have a huge variety of different ones around the yard. Kinda like folks do with roses or day lilies.
