"Superferry down for two weeks"
#1
Today's advertiser says the Superferry is going to be down for repairs for a couple of weeks.

[The company said it was "taking advantage of the off-peak travel season" to make the repairs. It said the repairs to the rudders will enhance passenger comfort.]

I think this is a great idea. In fact, to "enhance passenger comfort"; I'm going to fix the brakes on my van. [Big Grin]

Maybe they should have done an EIS on the impacts of Hawaiis environment on the Superferry.[Wink]

Instead of the Superferry's impact on the environment.[Big Grin]

The ocean ate the last two attempts at an inter-island ferry and that was just between Oahu and Maui and not even across the Alenuihaha channel. The sailing schooner, Kilauea, was the last successful inter-island ferry service wasn't it?

Don't count her out yet, this has been about as bad a winter as we've had in some years, and most of her downtime has been for passenger safety!

Plenty of people have ridden her and rave about the ride! She'll really take off this summer, especially with the demise in the tour ships!

And so far this year, 3 whale strikes have been recorded, all by the "Whale Attack Foundation". I think it's about time for a ban on prop driven boats in "Whale City". Before a ban is imposed on all non necessary motorboats in Whale Town!

gtill I so agree with this statement

It breaks my heart to read the stories of the Manatee in Florida being ravaged by props. They are such gentle creatures, why can't we protect them, even if we can't stop the hot doggers on the water, place some sound physical barriers. Hey why can't the props be screened to protect the animals. Our wanton fun loving activities have such an impact on the innocent. I for one am ........ concerned among other things.
