Steel price increases
#1
I just got word that Deitrich Steel in Honolulu is anticipating a 10% price increase in March.
If you are thinking of ordering light gage steel now is the time to do it.
Assume the best and ask questions.

This is usually a time for people to start collecting metal scrap like old cars etc. Nothing like a financial reward to encourage recycling!

Considering the price of steel has more than doubled in the past two years an additional ten percent increase doesn't seem like enough of a reason to run out and buy the stuff at these current inflated prices. Used to get steel for welding projects now most of the projects are wooden instead.

I can't say it's a fact but I was also told to expect another 15% increase in April too. Meanwhile I'm placing some April orders now in Febuary.

We were also warned by Greenhouse Specialists that Conley, their greenhouse supplier, was projecting large price increases, on the order of 20-30%, sometime in the summer. These structures are almost entirely galvanized steel tubing. So the general steel price increase could well be real.
