BIAN Spring Plant Sale
#11
We just got home awhile ago from the BIAN sale (our first time) and it was totally awesome! We got a huge areca palm for only $24... I mean HUGE! Plus other plants as well...great prices! In fact, we were so psyched, I think we're going back again in the morning! You shoulda seen us trying to cram that huge areca palm into our little Honda Accord! But we made it home![Big Grin]

My partner went to the sale last night and found a good price for a nice sealing wax/lipstick palm (which are slow growing, expensive and hard to find -- the resorts in Kona are paying premium prices for them and buying all they can, making supplies here both tight and expensive). He also found a couple of great mango trees -- one a dwarf mango that will only get about 15 feet tall and tends to have more easily reachable fruit and a standard mango that will be planted away from the house. Fantastic sale, according to him.

BIAN really thanks the gardening community for their tremendous support. Best sale ever, and boy did we have fun talking to people. I'm glad Katie and John found some treasures! We picked up a couple of things ourselves -- 2 mangosteens and a pomagranite. Yum!

A personal thank-you to those who came by our both and bought Vireyas. May they bring joy to your gardens!

So did anyone get one of those polka-dot begonias? I wanted one but the line was so long I couldn't get any plants and still make it to the airport on time to pick up the relatives. Arrgh!

Thank you for the offer, Lquade, however my gardening buddy went to the sale and got one. I didn't go with her to the sale since we were both picking folks up at the airport that evening - at different times or we would have been at the plant sale together. The folks she picked up went back and half the folks here went home again yesterday so my gardening buddy and I were finally able to garden again and I was able to see her new plants. She got some nice ones! These periodic sales have the most interesting plants.
