I have a large, old ohia tree within 10 feet of my bedroom that is beginning to lean in the direction of the house. I say large, meaning 50-60 feet tall and close to 24 inches in diameter at its base. Also, access to it may be difficult. So I'm looking for a reputable, experienced, licensed and insured contractor to advise me on eliminating this potentially serious problem. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

That isn't a hassle, that's a valuable asset! Call a lumber guy who will come cut it down and make it into boards. Frequently they will do this for a sixty forty split. You get sixty percent of the boards and they get forty percent. You might get enough boards to redo a floor in ohia.

I know some very reputable tree removers, that is their trade and they've got lots of experience and references all over the island. I just put in a call to them to see if they thought they could handle it, I'll let you know what they say or any advice they give.
Aloha~

I agree with Cat - this is a potential treasure. Call Jeff Anderson, 808-938-0572. If he doesn't do it himself, he probably will have a contact.

I will send you an email to the listed email address with their #. They do great work, as I've said, with many references. They've done similar trees, just did a big old Albezia off Ainaloa and Anthurium that was growing over a house. Typically they either chip it (which I agree with the others, seems like would be a terrible waste in this case) or they can leave it for you to do with what you'd like. I'll send the name and number to call now. Good luck~

Would anyone know a ballpark figure on the cost of a tree removal? I have a rather large albezia on my vacant lot that I wouldn't mind having removed.
Thanks.

you're gonna have to be a liitle more percise about your Albezia Tree. When you say ,"rarther large",do you mean over 40 feet? Typically it will cost you in the neighborhood of between $800.00 to $2000.00. A lot has to do with how easy it is to get at, and if a "cherry picker" is needed?
If you wanna save money on this job, and since your lot is empty. It's a lot cheaper if tree trimmer just cuts tree down, and leaves it!
