Does anyone know if there is another airline that allows pets to fly in the cabin going from the mainland to Hawaii? I was under the impression that ATA was the only one, and had planned to use them to move my cats out this summer.

Aloha is trying to
sell
the lawsuit according to the PBN.

Our friend was leaving for Kauai - tomorrow - ATA - not happening now![V]
Used ATA in Jan. - flight was canceled - we were rebooked for a flight the next morning - stayed overnight at airport hotel - our $350.00 ticket each roundtrip; ended up costing about $500. NOW $500.00 roundtrip would be a bargin - most flights are $500 ONE-WAY![V]
ATA appeased those bumped overnight by giving out complimentary roundtrip tickets - I now have two available for WALLPAPER![

Damon, the article you gave the link for on Delta and Northwest bankruptcy was dated March 30, 2007. Both of them exited bankruptcy within a few months of that article and even posted some profitable quarters before fuel prices went through the roof.
Just to put all this airline news into perspective, over the past ten years or so, several economists and other researchers have gone over the financials of past, present, and defunct carriers. What was their consensus finding? There has never been any overall profit in the entire history of the US airline industry. There have been multiple mergers, bankruptcy reorganizations, liquidations, government bailouts, and favorable regulatory measures, but never any profits for the industry as a whole. Southwest Airlines in recent years has been the only consistently profitable airline, and they follow a business and route model radically different from the rest. No one with any sense makes long-term investments in airline companies. Some speculators have managed to make some short-term gains, often with inside information about mergers or lucrative new foreign routes.
Not a pretty picture.
Cheers,
Jerry

Agreed
Air liners are just fuel tanks with wings, the fuel they burn is where the profit has always been (oil companies)
follow the money

About Herb Kelleher & Southwest,
http://positivesharing.com/2003/01/book-review-nuts/ , they have a very different take on things compared to most of the other airlines. I read this book a few years ago, and found it very interesting.

Our visitor from Chicago was also leaving tomorrow on ATA from Hilo. Everything is gone from the airport, they left no word with any other airline, and the tickets are not being honored. Boy are we having fun today! By the time you type in info, the flights are sold out!
At this time, there is NO info on wether there will be any reimbursement....(probably not) or return on credit card charges, also the trip insurance is not honored, as this is a bankruptcy. What fun we are having!
