ATA Airlines Bankrupt too. NO FLIGHTS
#21
New lesson to file in the mental rolodex...

Don't buy plane tickets with your Visa/MC *DEBIT* card. It's the same as cash & you don't fall under the 'Credit Card company will re-imburse you" rule. [V][V]

I just realized I had a $400 ATA credit that went by-by too. [:0]

Sheesh, so with my $400 credit gone, losing our $370 debit card-purchased tickets, plus the $900 replacement tickets on Hawaiian, that's $1670 to fly two people ONE WAY san francisco to hilo. Bleh. Today sucks [8][8].

Damon,
Those tables are meaningless if not put in the context of what they represent. To get a real picture, you need to check the carrier's individual stats directly.

FYI, Table 8 includes the revenue in Table 16.

Your are absolutely right!!! I was just whining[Big Grin]

Trust me, I wouldn't pay $1600 to go TO the mainland one way! I only spend that kind of cash to bring me home to the beloved Big Island Smile I loves my Puna, even when she costs me an arm and a leg.

Well so much for air miles! What a shame for all, just a crying shame. [Sad]

Hooligal, I'm surprised you can even get a flight direct to Hilo. Just checked earlier in the day and the only direct to the BI I found was LAX to Kona! Who did you check with?

I guess the issue is for Big Island residents is that ATA was the only Carrier that flew from the mainland directly to the Big Island.

Hawaiian has been flying to LA, San Fran, San Diego, San Jose and Sacramento for awhile now.... HOWEVER.... Only from Oahu.

This new May 1st pick up isn't going to fly out of the Big Island so this still leaves Big Island with very few options to fly directly to the mainland from the Big Island.

Every flight I took thru Honolulu was so time consuming.

Every flight I took from Oak to Hilo on ATA was full to capacity.

To have to got CA to Honolulu to BI will be a gruesome step backward in my opinion.

Oh well it won't keep me away, just not as many trips.

Thanks for the news Cat and Damon.

I booked ATA with Expedia online using my credit card. I was on hold on the phone with expedia for almost an hour today before I gave up. Someone said they got a credit with their credit card company. I wonder if expedia will give me a credit or refund? (And pigs might fly...)

UNITED AIRLINES allows pets to fly in the cabin FROM hawaii, not TO HAWAII. I spoke to an agent to make sure. $85/pet and health cert.

If you ordered your ATA or Aloha tickets with your ccard you can get the card credited by the Credit Card company if 90 days has not lapsed.
