Composting class in Volcano????? Help!
#1
I can't find the old reference to Piper Selden's upcoming class on composting to be held in Volcano this coming Saturday.... I emailed her to register for the class, but haven't heard anything back, and I'm wondering if someone has the location and time of the class, and also how do I know if I am registered??? A friend of mine has tried several times to attend one of Piper's composting classes, but doesn't hear back, so hasn't been able to attend. I really want to go to this class! Any assistance????

Mahalo,

If it's in concert with the Recycle Hawai'i efforts, try their website. That said, it hasn't been too loaded with info on previous classes.

Recycle Hawaii calendar site is down also.... Pipers contact info is at the bottom of this page:
http://www.hawaiirainbowworms.com/Products2.html
I do know her (from the university) & will rattle her cage if you can't get ahold of her (I do know she has some family issues, but still should be returning emails & phone calls...)
email me through the forum if need be...
forgot to add:
April 12 - Pahoa 2-4 pm most likely at the shopping center or the community center (She is going to check the community center availability)
May 17 - Keaau 2-4 pm at the Keaau Transfer Station
I think I saw the info on Volcano in the Trib-Herald calendar section...

Thanks all for your information..... I will call Piper directly and see if I can get into the class up in Volcano. Does anyone know where the Cooper Center is in Volcano Village?

Oh - Carey, I tried to email you via Punaweb awhile back, and the email couldn't go through. I was going to ask you about moringa (the branches I got from you died, and I wanted to ask to be on your list the next time you get a wind-fall). Is your email address correct on Punaweb?

Again, thanks all. Carey, if I can't reach Piper, I may ask for your help in reaching her. Thanks!!!

Rumi,

The Cooper Center is on Wright Road. Turn right off Volcano Hwy onto Wright, go beyond the stop sign, it'll be on your right in a short ways. There's a skate boarding park, a parking lot, the Center, then the volunteer fire station.

Carey, I have not heard from Piper about this class, and neither has my friend who also left a message on Piper's Rainbow Worms answering machine. If she's out of worms, do you think she'll not hold the class? My friend says this is the third time she's tried to take one of Piper's composting classes, and never finds out if she's registered, and she once drove to the class only to find out it had been cancelled. Any advice here?

Thanks.

Just called Piper, the Volcano Class has been relocated to the Keaau Transfer due to the high potential of high levels of VOG. The relocated class is a go (she promised me)
Sorry for all of the confusion, I am guessing that the Pahoa class is also at Keaau.....
Oh, You will probably get info on where to find 'wild' worms in the area in the class (my class did)... hopefully this will intice you to go.... If she doesn't tell you where to look, tell her Carey told her to tell you!

The Keaau class is at the transfer station in Keaau (off of 130) at a new time....

2-4pm

(It looks like the Pahoa class is at the Keaau Transfer, as that was the time slotted for the Pahao class that had no place on the schedule - but this is only a guess...)
