Designer for Addition/ building up vs. out
#11
A big added expense would be having to move out during the process. It would be very hazardous trying to live in a house sitting on stacked wood blocks. I remember seeing pictures of a house in San Diego that was being lifted & fell over on the neighbor during a small earthquake. Both houses were destroyed.

The house across from us was lifted a few years ago. It worked out well. I still say Dan Wentworth is your man for all this information. HE knows his stuff!

Just another day in P A R A D I S E !!
I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet
hit the floor each morning, the devil says

"Oh Crap, She's up!"

it was lifted before i moved in, i was saying it was a nice way to go compared to adding on to the side or top. we have a 1/2 daylight basement builted up w/ cinder blocks and 2x6. the concrete was brought in by a wheelbarrel. eight footwalls w/ a drop ceiling. two to four guys could do the job i would think.
jacking up the home shouldnt be hard. it had a four foot crawl space already. put support blocks inside and lay your blocks and 2x6 outside. jack it down and there you go.
i wouldnt live in it while jacked up but i guess you could. if it had blocks and beams it could be done! but i wouldnt risk it.

hope this helps
peace
